Title: CalendarPlus Version 11
Post by: Blazingwolf on January 04, 2004, 11:57:28 AM
Here is CalendarPlus for version 11. I have included 2 versions of the skin. The first is pretty much the same as version 10.2 but adds the sun and moon info to region 0. The 2nd also adds an owner image picture. Made some minor changes to the agenda and battery section. In the agenda section I removed the exam and general filters (just commented them out so you can put them back in if you wish) and in the battery section I added some pictures. I am graphically inept so this stays pretty much along the lines of the original versions (even though I would like to do more). I left the weather icons out of the zip to make it smaller and save band width. The icons can be found  HERE. (http://www.dark-mojo.com/todayplus/viewtopic.php?t=75)  I hope you like it and as always if you have any suggestions let me know.

Instructions for install:
1. Place skin file in the skin folder.
2. In the config file select the version of skin you like.
3. In the shortcut section of the config file you need to create a 5th shortcut group called "apps" (no quotes and must be lowercase). Then create shortcuts to powerg, Memory, Reset, Suspend, SD card, ipaq, and CF card. They need to be in this order to work right.
4. To display overdue tasks in the main agenda and task sections create task filter1. Number of days is 360. Sort by due date and check show overdue.
5. If you use the version with the owner info picture the picture is 100 X 43.
6. Tell me if something is not working  :D
7. Enjoy.

Edit: Doh! Forgot to give credit where credit is due. Thanks to:

Fishboy for the launcher
Lightman for the digital clocks

Whee!  Updated version!

Couple of things that I happened to change (on CalendarPlus11), and a bug:

I ended up shifting the owner info (I'm using a 58x37 owner image):

changefont,tahoma,13,b
text,150,-2,%owner name%,l
changefont,tahoma,12,
text,154,8,%owner phone%,l
image,153,20,%owner image%,
   offsetadd,0,98
   endregion,0,0

And the updated time info (smaller font):

changefont,tahoma,11,
text,98,38,Updated: ,l
text,118,49,[updatetime],c,l

I also removed the suspend/reset buttons as I don't use them.

After creating the shortcuts for my cards, I had to edit the actual links (so they would point to the proper location).

A couple of bugs/graphical errors:

When I open up the toolbar, it covers the owner name.  This is fine, but it would be nice if it had a solid background rather than being able to see the owner info behind it.  That or moving the whole toolbar over to the extreme left.

When I have the shortcuts open, and click the double-arrow icon, the shortcut group names appear, but I can still see the shortcuts behind them (rather messy).  A solid background would be great.

Great looking skin!

Thanks for the update!

Hi Blazingwolf,

thanks for this really nice skin!

Could you give me some hints what I am doing wrong?

-The shortcuts for CF card and iPAQ file store don't work correct on my 2210 although I set the skin up as you told (same order of the links).
-The calendar doesn't show the day abbreviations for monday-friday
-although I set the "Start on Monday" flag the week still starts on sunday (but the date is as if it starts on monday. I filed a bug about this already.

Thanks for your help

Urbanus

fishfuzz,

Those aren't bugs. That is the way the skin was designed. For me, I am not bothered by the way it covers over the writing. You are more then welcome to make any changes that you like to the skin. I just posted it the way I like it.   :D  Carefull on moving the buttons over to far because when the longer named months like September come up you might end up covering up the month. Have fun with the skin and post pictures I always like to see what people come up with.

Urbanus,

1.Your are probably going to have to make changes to the links. To do this I use resco file explorer to open the link in notes on the PPC. The change the link to point to your storage card. If you need more help with this let me know.
2.For the days of the week did you add the day abbreviations into the config app? This is located in the general page. Just tap on the edit button and add in the days. The only exception is saturday and sunday. Those days are coded into the skin so that they can be a different color.
3.Yep it does seem to bug. Never noticed since I use sunday as the start.

fishfuz, you can remove the month, due to the fact it is right there on top of the calendar, then move the buttons over.

Okay, so here's my changes.  I used joelw135's suggestion and eliminated the date, shifted all the buttons to the far left.  I had to adjust the Agenda button so it wouldn't launch every time you expanded the menu.

I then adjusted the size and shape of the application launcher buttons (for the groups you create), and then flipped the right arrow with the menu launcher.

Any changes that I have made can be found by searching for: ffmod-

Noticed something with you skin and after loading the same thing on mine.

The day shows Wednesday but the date under it shows Jan 04.  BW's is right as it shows Sunday and Jan 04.  How do I get the day to catch up with the date?

Thanks, really like your changes, I'm back to using calendar+

Sorry, should have looked at skin first, 04 is the yy not the date, changed it to dd for the date.

I don't know if the today weather/sunrise/set/moonphase needs to be raised about 1/4 of a line or region expanded, or the area below needs to be lower a bit.  the very bottom portion elevation/%vis line can not be seen.  Request help/info on how to correct.

Thanks, bcx16

I found the culprit.....there was a black line running through the skin seperating the regions, got it changed to white.

I want to keep the line, so how do I get the regions to move down?  The thing I have tried is changing region sizes and the max ht & ht which of course all failed.  I looked through the whole skin and nothing else came to light for me to change.

Thanks to you and Blazingwolf for this great skin, it is the only one I have been able to get my storage cards set up properly in.

I noticed that too.  But if you collapse (or expand) the toolbar, it refreshes that portion of the screen, thus bringing it to the front.

There certainly is enough room to move that whole section up a hair, and it probably wouldn't be too difficult to achieve.  Just remember, the more you shift it up, the less space your have for your owner pic - mine is 58x37 pixels.

Look for this line:

// Icon is button to weather section

And copy and paste the following lines (or, look that amount that I shifted each section by (3), and do the same on yours) until you reach the "//Puts month calendar and update time on today screen" section.  MAKE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SKIN BEFORE YOU BEGIN! And leave some sort of documentation (ie like I did below) to show your changes.  Good luck!

// ffmod- move this all up

Make sure that you put the colors-3d file in the images folder of TodayPlus. That should be all you need to do.

fishfuzz,
Good job.

bearcatx16,
I left the month and year on the calendar because you can change what month you are looking at. If you change it to the date (which, of course, you are more then welcome to do) it will not show the correct info for the the month and year that the calendar is looking at. Every once in a while I need to check a month in a different year so it is good to make sure you are looking at the right 1.

If any one would like to change the size of region 0 you can but there is a few lines of code you need to change. EX:

defregion,0,0,0,240,75,1    Change to the size you want
offsetadd,0,73     This line and the first offsetadd in the region should = your total region size.
      defregion-override,1,0,71,240,56,6
      defregion-override,4,0,71,240,56,6
      defregion-override,10,0,71,240,56,6
defregion-override,19,0,71,240,56,6      These lines need to be changed so that they are postion correctly. play with your numbers to get it right. Located in region 14.
You will also need to change the 2 offsetadds in region 14.

I hope this helps.

You have to create a folder in the weather Icons directory called Washington Post. Then copy all the icons to this new directory. EX: folder called AccuWeather.

joelw135 asked me if I might be able to make my skin a little different. I liked his idea so much I have incorporated it into my skin. Thanks for the idea joelw135.

In this version of the skin your current weather is listed in the 0 region. If you tap on the name of the city it will open the weather region. If you tap on the weather icon it will bring up your present conditions. To scroll through your weather cities just tap on the arrow next to the icon. If you have the weather region open the arrow will scroll through that screen also. You can now see the current conditions for all of the cities you have right in your 0 region. You will also notice that the weather region displays 5 days worth of forcasts.

I hope this is the information you want, since I am not sure what you said. The main thing is you don't start today plus from the programs file. It starts when you turn on the PPC. If you got to START---TODAY-----ITEMS, it should be checked there to appear on Today screen.  If not follow below.

Did you drag the cab file of ver 11 to the Pocket PC? Then after the cab file is on the Pocket PC you browse to it using file explorer and tap on the cab file and it will self install.  Once that is done browse to PROGRAMS----TODAYPLUS-----CONFIG, tap on config and it will open. Set Base path to Program Files TodayPlus, then select your skin.

3.-Go to Programs--->ejecute Todayplus icon(config icon). And when i do it, the program start but i cant select the skin (it shows the standard view of today plus)

When the config opens go to set the base path.  It must be set to TodayPlus. Then you should be able to select the skin.  What some people found out is that once you set the base path exit and then reenter and set skin.

Do you mean when you click on a day icon you can't return from details? If this is what you are speaking about just tap the icon on the right or left it should return.

If you changed the code or something like that I can zip up my weather section and give it to you, and you can paste it in.

If you go into TodayPlus Config, and under Owner information, specify the image you want to use (tap the [...]).  If you are using my skin, try to keep it to 58x37 (pixels).  You've got room for width, but only a pixel or so more on the height.  I believe there is an elephant distributed with the default skin.

liopox,

No that is not normal. You should be able to tap anywhere in the detail section to bring it back to the forcast screen. Sometimes, I am not sure why, you might need to need to tap the area twice.

For the reset and suspend functions to work you need to set them up in the config app. From the first page of this thread:

3. In the shortcut section of the config file you need to create a 5th shortcut group called "apps" (no quotes and must be lowercase). Then create shortcuts to powerg, Memory, Reset, Suspend, SD card, ipaq, and CF card. They need to be in this order to work right.

The files are located in the download and labeled "resetandsuspend" and they should be placed in the TodayPlus folder.

If you still need help let me know. I'll answer unless joelw135 beats me to it.  :D

thanks

1. Place Colors-3DPlus in to the images folder of TodayPlus
2. All other folders will go into the TodayPlus folder.
3. The 2 .txt files will go into the skin folder.

To see the TodayPlus folder use explore from the activesync program(this is on your PC). Then click on My Device/Program Files/TodayPlus. Then just drag and drop.

You will then need to select the skin via the config app. Follow the instructions from the first page to get the shortcuts working. Hope this helps.

Name a folder Washington Post, and put that new folder with the icons into the Weather Icons folder. It should already be there after install.  The Skin tells the program what icons to use.

The line should look like this:

options,weathericondir,Weather Icons\Washington Post,png

If you don't have the ,png it won't work. Hope this helps.

Did you download the icons from the link I gave in the first post? If you did, did you place that folder into the weather icons folder in TodayPlus?

Done it. I have set on this folder my previous weather icons and they are .bmp not .png. So i have changed the line on calendarplus.txt.

Thanks for all.

Urbanus:

I love your Wisbar theme.  Can you tell me where I can find it?  I just upgraded from icBar yesterday and love the ability to switch quickly without having to select object graphics individually.

Is there a site somewhere that shows all the different weather icons from Weather Underground, Weather.com,  etc.?

I'm going to just start building my own skin with Weather, then add more as I go along.

Is there a "down and dirty" about skins?  Like explaining the regions, the syntax for the elements, etc.?  I downloaded the Introduction to Skinning.

Thank you.

_______________________________________________

I have the same issue where the home weather icon is clicked and shows the current conditions there is not a way by tapping anywhere on the screen that takes you back to the forecasted days.

Also I cannot find a shortcut to "powerg" - what is this file?  Does reset and suspend files need to stay in the resetandsuspend folder under TodayPlus or do I cut them out and paste individually under TodayPlus?

THANKS!

Maybe I left the Pwereg shortcut out of the download  I have attached it here.

Try this code to see if it helps with the icon button problem:

if,region,1,999
button,90,64,34,34,1,4,0,-1
button,90,64,34,34,4,4,999
button,90,64,34,34,10,4,999
else
endif

It should be placed under the code for the today icon in region 0. This is how mine looks:

todayicon,90,64,,t
button,90,64,34,34,3,4,100,1
if,region,1,999
button,90,64,34,34,1,4,0,-1
button,90,64,34,34,4,4,999
button,90,64,34,34,10,4,999
else
endif

The reset and suspend can be placed anywhere as long as you point to them when you create a shortcut in the config app.

Let me know if this helps.

I am having a little trouble locating the section to put this into....Is it Region 0 - Page 0 - Date Section?

Also what does the apps shortcut do?  I entered all the shortcuts you included and what should happen?  Also I do not see reset/suspend anywhere on the Today Screen.....No icons in the bottom corner either like I kave seen before for power off/reset...

THX!

Look for this in the first section below where it says Region 0 (Part in RED) then add part in blue below part in red.

todayicon,90,64,,t
button,90,64,34,34,3,4,100,1

Then add the code below directly under it:

button,90,64,34,34,1,4,0,-1
button,90,64,34,34,4,4,999
button,90,64,34,34,10,4,999
else
endif

Now when I press the weather icon, everything disappears from the screen and have to reboot.

On my 2215 I have only experienced the "tap on the weather and nothing happens" one time.

Once I reloaded the skin the issue went away.  But perhaps we should add a return button just under the Vis...

QuoteI have the same issue where the home weather icon is clicked and shows the current conditions there is not a way by tapping anywhere on the screen that takes you back to the forecasted days.

I would guess the TP+ internally only has 1 variable to store previous page.  Therefore, the "back" button command won't work if U hit the home weather icon twice (the stored region get overwrited).

A quick fix for this is to enforced to go back to region 3,0 by changing
"button,0,0,240,54,3,3,,1" to "button,0,0,240,54,3,4,0,1" for both region 3,100 and 3,200

A more fancy one, which stored the previous state by another variable and a different algorithm (var27) as attach:

Hi Blazingwolf,

I really love yr skin and I hopes U wouldn't mind if I posted my changes in this thread.

BTW, I found some parts of the code can be simpler and cleaner. eg:

In Region 0,0:
   imagebutton,13,29,rightarrowsmall.png,t,-1,8,1,0
   button,13,29,11,11,-1,8,0
   imagebutton,1,29,leftarrowsmall.png,t,-1,9,0,0
   button,1,29,11,11,-1,9,1
can be change to:
   imagebutton,13,29,rightarrowsmall.png,t,-1,8,0,0
   imagebutton,1,29,leftarrowsmall.png,t,-1,9,0,0

-----------------------------------------------------------------
           if,refresh
      color,font,125_125_125
           else
      color,font,-1_4_-1
           endif

          today,realtemp,128,75,,°,c
          today,humidity,130,87,,H,c

           if,refresh
      color,font,-1_4_-1
           else
           endif
change to:
           if,refresh
      color,font,125_125_125
           else
      color,font,-1_4_-1
           endif

          today,realtemp,128,75,,°,c
          today,humidity,130,87,,H,c

           color,font,-1_4_-1
-------------------------------------------------------

I maybe wrong.   But I am still in the middle of the modification..   :)

Excuse me,

It's a really nice skin!
However, As I have some other plugin in my today screen, I want to shortern the dimension of the date section to avoid the scroll bar comes out. So I tried to modify the value in the skin as follows:

maxheight,277
height,65
...
...
//=============================================
// REGION 0 - PAGE 0
//   Date section
//  Dimensions: 240 x 65
//=============================================
   region,0,0,60
   defregion,0,0,0,240,65,1
updateregions,14
   offset,offset_-1,offset_-1
...
(I've taken away the Owner information from the skin)
...

After I updated the skin file, I found that when the skin is refreshed, the date section seems having re-rendered twice. The date section shows the correct dimension (240 x 65) in the first time's re-rendering, but it seems go back to the original value after the second re-rendering.

Could anyone please help?

Cheers

Well, I took a quick look and it seems to me that you need to change also the offsetadd command in the end of that region.
This command is what tells TP how much it will actually increase/decrease a section.
So, for that region, the original skin has :
offsetadd,0,98
and I'm figuring you need to change it to :
offsetadd,0,65

...that is, if 65 is the height you intend for that region ;)

Lightman, thanks for answering. The only change is that the offset should be 63 instead of 65. You need to add the first offset to the second one so that they equal the total height of the region.

jackleung, glad you like the skin. Thanks for posting your version. You can make any changes that you like and post them here I always like to see what other people do.

Hi BlazingWolf,

I guess there is some bugs in the skin as follow:

1
"calcvar,var30,moonphase,1"
should it be
"calcvar,var30,moonphase,0"
to display the current moonphase?

2. I saw some update regions at follow:
updateregions,2,3
updateregions,5,6
updateregions,7
updateregions,14

But there is no region 2,5,7,14

Rgds,
 Jack

there was a discussion about the moonphase being accurate and about changing it to 1 and there is a region 14 which is popup buttons. Do a search about the moonphase thing. It is ther somewhere. The moonphase reference even shows the 1.
