Title: Traffic Info & Movie Listing RSS
Post by: ZapMe1 on January 10, 2005, 04:16:40 PM
I am happy to be posting more great additions to TP !!  This made possible by "eemond", who wrote some fine PHP Scripts to access Traffic Information, and to List Movie Times from your local theaters...

Also, "jhollin1138" has agreed to store these scripts on the forum's server, so that they can be accessed by anyone who wants to make use of them..  I have used both of these scripts since eemond first released them, and they work well !!   I spend much time on the road, and to know the location of traffic accidents and road construction  from my ppc has been a big help !!
And if your a movie fan, then the theater movie times is also a big help....

The Traffic Info :  http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/traffic_rss.php

Setup example (Columbus)  : http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/traffic_rss.php?metro1=col

Movie Listings :  http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/listings_rss.php

Setup Example (Columbus)  :
http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/listings_rss.php?theater1=4897

For the Movie Theater Near You, follow the instructions as posted by "MadTxn"  :
QuoteHere's a step by step:

1. Go to www.moviefone.com and find the theaters you want.
2. Note the theater id at the end of the URL.
3. Add the script to your RSS feed using "listings_rss.php?theater1=id1&theater2=id2... etc."
4. That's it.

More info can be found starting on the 2nd page of this thread :
http://www.jhollin1138.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1642&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20

Thanks again, eemond & jhollin1138 !!    :approve:

Enjoy !!!!!!!!

There seems to be a problem with the movie listing PHP script.  I am seeing allot of "Warnings" when I run it in my browser.

Ok, fixed now.  Click this link: http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/listings_rss.php?theater1=4897

Thanks eemond!

Instead of changing the rights to the main directory, I have moved the feeds to a sub-folder and updated that directory's rights.  I have updated the URL's in ZapMe1's original post.

Instructions for Traffic Map & Traffic RSS Setup

1)  Start HERE ! (http://autos.msn.com/everyday/trafficreport.aspx?zipcode=&src=LeftNav&metro=COL)
2)  Find the Traffic Map for Your City !
3)  Make a note of the "3-Letter City Code" at the end of the URL at the top of your browser..  This is also used in the Traffic PHP Script for Traffic RSS !!
4)  Using This URL : http://fp.images.autos.msn.com/images/mymsn/COL_2.gif, replace the code in RED, with "Your" City Code..
5)  Copy the URL with your city code into the "Radar.txt" file for the Traffic Map Download !!
6)  Use the PHP Script for Traffic RSS;  http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/traffic_rss.php?metro1=COL, again replacing the City Code in RED, with your city code, and copy to the TP Config / RSS Tab !!

That's it !!  You are now setup for Traffic Map & RSS !!!!
:D

I have tried the new movie feeds (thanks jhollin for hosting this!) but when I try my theaters, it doesn't work.

Even just pasting the link in IE on my desktop - I get a page full of errors.

http://todayplus.jhollin1138.com/rss/listings_rss.php?theater1=2204

This is one of my theaters. I also have 2219 and 2217

Is there something I am doing wrong???

Seems to be a problem with 2204 (my 2022 works), go to the source (movies.yahoo.com) and see if anything strange.

What't your theater zipcode and name?

Appears to be a problems on the TP Host Server. I'll take a look.

And changing it the TP config works.

If it is okay, can I continue to use your server?

jhollin1138,

Any idea? Works on my Web Server (24.34.15.45). I looked at the error log, nothing more than what I saw in the Browser window. Maybe some hidden file or some other privilege?

Thanks...

Regards,
eemond

emmond:

Just let you know, I also got the same error on my server.  Mine is identical to jollin's.  My limited knowledge can not solve it.  I will leave it to jhollin.

How is everyone? I've been here all the time, just not much to say. Movie Listing RSS has been broken for sometime, I had some time over the holidays to fix it, I think it's OK now.

I'm now using an iPAQ hw6945 smartphone with TD. The screen is reduced from 320x240 to 240x240. I refused to leave my beloved TD behind. I did some resizing of Hammerskin 1.05.2 QVGA (weather and system status still need some work). Any other efforts to fit the new 240x240 format?

Regards,
eemond

Hey eemond,
seems like everybody is around here, just not having anything to say.
But I think, everybody is lucky with the things he has, or switched
away from TodayPlus to other plugins.  :-(

I'm still using it on my WM5-device and always still happy with all things.

Hi everyone.  I have bad news, I had to disable "listings_rss.php" due to excessive server loads.  This script twice caused thee server I am hosting this site on to crash.  These server crashes resulted in my suspension by my hoster.  My account has been restored, but I have no choice to disable the script until further notice.
