Title: radar.exe modification
Post by: uk_skinner on March 14, 2005, 10:13:30 AM
With the help from Rotlaus, I can modify the radar.exe.   AT this moment, I can make the view window bigger and change some showing information.  Any suggestion, please?  Remember, my knowledge is still llimited but I believe I can put the progress bar back.

Please download at below.

04Apr2005 :

1)  city.txt.time file will be generated for each city.txt downloading.

Geezer:

 Yes, this was an actual exe but it is still prototype.  I only tested up to 5 images so far.  I neen to find a way to see the downloading information can scroll-up, otherwise, I just let exe show one at one time.  :oops:

Uk_skinner,

With many thanks to Rotlaus! It's good to know (and write...) that his work is very important for the skinners world!

My wishes at this point:
•  the number of the download, as you showed in your screenshot (only nececarry if you succeed in creating the automatic scolling feature) ànd the name of the downloaded picture
•  if no scrolling is possible, than for me it's enough to see wich download is ready (only the latest one)  and wich download Radar.exe is working with. Please NO path, only the picture, that's enough information, I think.

Sometimes Radar.exe stops at a textline in rarad.txt and with one of these features you can see where the failure was. And that should be a welcome improvement.

Thanks for the latest improvements of Radar.exe!
Timmy

The best I can do at this moment is to show 5 at a time.  In other words, the first 5 downloading will show, then show the next 5 (6-10).then so on and so for.  I can try to get the file name (no path) on it ... :roll:

I'll check this evening. Just to clarify, i don't want to write the exe for you. You are the real EXE-Master  ;)  But maybe i can help with a few lines of code...

I'm don't using TodayPlus anymore, cause it's to slow on my Pocket PC and it's annoying to wait 3 or 4 seconds after i click something in the Hammerskin. Don't understand me wrong, TodayPlus and the Hammerskin are great pieces of software, i could never write on my own. I know this for sure, cause i just started to write my own Today Plugin. Only a small one with the things i need.

I'll contact you, if i have something for you.

Andre

I have posted the modified radar.exe at #1 post.  Please download it from there.  The users who received the testing one, please download it again.

The new features:

1  The viewer window was enlarged.
2  The progress bar was added.  If the size of the file is known, then the progress bar and percentage of downloading will show.  If not (for example, the temperature chart via PHP), the total bytes of the file will show (#11, #12 in the screenshot).
3. If you have more than 8 files, 1-8 will show then 9-16 will be the next, 17-24......

Please let me know if you encounter any problem.  Thanks.

@All,

I'm almost complete sure that this is due to veeeeeeeeeeery slow internet-connections of the last couple of hours. I saw this when I re-used the radar.exe of the first post. This radar.exe keeps going, waiting as long as every part was downloaded.

Or, maybe, this server has some problems at this moment? Uk_skinner, can you check that?

My results: The first start (for downloading TodayPlus' own weatherdownload?!?) is still slow, but when radar.exe begins, then everything is fast, again.

I have (11) total downloads in radar.exe..  When I took my device out of the cradle, I was able to DL all (11) using WiFi !!
This morning, also using WiFi, the first (4) came up "failed", (which are my city.txt), and the remaining (7) downloaded just fine !!

If (7) worked, the server seems ok !, So I'm confused why the others still fail !! :(

@All,

I don't know if anybody else already gave the following suggestion:

Rotlaus latest version only waits 5 seconds, and then goes to the next textline. Five seconds was too short, several times last days.

Therefore I uses the previous version Uk_skinner put in the first post. This version has NO time limit. Sometimes the download takes very much time, but the download CAME in!!!

Timmy:

 I think Rotlaus has addressed this issue on German forum.  If I understand it right, he will try to see he can make it more flexible.  A lot of European users use GPRS for downloading.  It will ocst a lot if the downloading take too long and that was the reason (I believe) he put 5-sec for each one.

That is good news !!

Due to the fact that we use Radar.exe so much within TP, maybe someday UK & Rotlaus can get together, and combine the "config" files that they are working on, and have one common config that will do it all !!  :idea:

:!: And some people have the "Nerve" to say that TP is Dead !!  Instead, it is being "Re-Born Weekly", with the Massive talent we have here at the forum ! (http://home.wideopenwest.com/~zapme1/TP-Mascot.gif)

Ok, you got the Code.

Next feature should be a checkbox on the Edit-Window for static URL's, so you must not set every Input field to zero for static URL's. Maybe you can disable the Input fields it the checkbox is marked.

Another nice feature would be, if you enable/disable the Cut/Copy/Delete Menu Items depending if a entry in the MainWindow is marked.

Just my Opinion, cause you said you wanna learn C#.  ;)

@ All,

Since one week I've got problems with the radar.exe and I'll tell you step by step the things to let you understand.

I've 12 lines in my radar.tx and three work well. But 9 lines don't do their job with downloaqding and give an error. One of those lines in radar.txt is:
SURL=http://72.9.224.178/~tpfansc/rss/weather.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Language=NL
 STOR=\Program Files\TodayPlus\Buffer\city2.txt
FORM=

Radar.log says:Error Reading 'http://72.9.224.178/~tpfansc/rss/weather.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Language=NL'
and writing it to '\Program Files\TodayPlus\Buffer\city2.txt'
Reason:
Bron-assembly can't be found

Typing in the URL http://72.9.224.178/~tpfansc/rss/weather.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Language=NL is working well.

Why does radar.exe give an error?!? Who knows?!?

Since one week I've got problems with the radar.exe and I'll tell you step by step the things to let you understand.

I've 12 lines in my radar.tx and three work well. But 9 lines don't do their job with downloaqding and give an error. One of those lines in radar.txt is:
SURL=http://72.9.224.178/~tpfansc/rss/weather.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Language=NL
 STOR=\Program Files\TodayPlus\Buffer\city2.txt
FORM=

Radar.log says:Error Reading 'http://72.9.224.178/~tpfansc/rss/weather.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Language=NL'
and writing it to '\Program Files\TodayPlus\Buffer\city2.txt'
Reason:
Bron-assembly can't be found

Typing in the URL http://72.9.224.178/~tpfansc/rss/weather.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Language=NL is working well.

Why does radar.exe give an error?!? Who knows?!?

Timmy

Timmy:

Questions:

1)   You just have this problem one week ago, right?  In other words, all 12 lines have been working well in the past.
2)  Can you open city2.txt?  If you do, what do you see?

Uk_skinner,

Here are the answers:

1) Yes, in the past all worked well!
2) This is in my cit2.txt:

function makeWeatherObj() {

this.swCity = "Arnhem/Dieren";

this.swSubDiv = "";

this.swCountry = "Netherlands";

this.swRegion = "West Europe";

this.swTemp = "30";

this.swTempCel = Math.round((5/9)*(this.swTemp-32));

If they have been working in the past, then most likely the problem was at your PPC.  And city2.txt looked fine to me.  Have you changed anything in your device just before you have the problem?  Any new softrware installed?

Uk_skinner,

I'd installed some new programs and updates. To see if that could have forced the problem, I did a 'restore' from the date of half november, when everything worked well.

After the 'restore' the same problems still excist. So: the new programs and updates didn't make the problems.

I've added my radar.txt and my radar.log and hope you will spend some time to this problem.

Thanks!
Timmy

Who knows?!?

Every single download-task in my radar.txt is working fine when used apart in a radar.txt file. So:
- one download task in radar.exe works well;
- all the tasks in my radar.txt and all the URL's are OK!

But all tasks together in radar.exe are giving much errors!!! What could be the cause of those errors?!?

Possibility one:
I've uploaded to version 4.1 of ActiveSync. Going back to version 4.0 did give the same problems...

Possibility two:
My broadbandspeed is upgraded from 1500 Kb to 3000 Kb. Is it possible that this is a bit too fast for radar.exe????? Is there a way to test this? Is it possible to make a delay after:
SURL=http://
STOR=
FORM=

Who knows the answer?!?

Hello Timmy,

I had also problems with the radar.exe two weeks ago.
I am using two radar.exe (same version). One for stocks
in the stocks-folder and one for weather in the radar-folder.
The stocks-radar.exe was working well, but the weather-
radar.exe did not work (only one link was o.k., 8 links/tasks
with errors).

So I copied the working stock-radar.exe over the
weather-radar.exe and ... works well again - does not know why.

@ NAS,

Thank you for paying attention to this problem!!!

I've re-downloaded the radar.exe of the first post in this thread, but this didn't give a solution: the same errors still excist.
Do you have the same radar.exe as in the first post?!?  If not: can you post your radar.exe here? I would like to test it on my PPC!

Thanks!

@ NAS,

Thank you for your quick response!

I've downloaded your version of radar.exe and tried it.But with no good luck: the same errors appear...

In the meantime I also downgraded from activesync 4.1 to version 3.8. Also with no good results: the same erroors appear...

NAS, thanks for your help!

Uk_skinner,

Are there problems with your server?!? I got this error-report:
"The site you are attempting to access is temporarily unavailable.
If you are the site owner please contact your system administrator."

For instance this line isn't working:
http://tpfans.com/rss/TpHourChart.php?Citycode=NLXX0028&Para=16,4,119,32&U=C&Time=0,12&R_Color=150,190,204&T_Color=196,15,15&La_Color=0,0,0&F_Color=30,160,0&YFont=1&XFont=1&YS=3
