thansk for the earlier help under basic info thread

now into install - fromstep by step guide

step 9 - no cities appear on list (guess that Im not on net - device in cradle have broadband connection -waht do I need to do?)

10  - what should the url be set to for newsfeed

when I've come out of the config - jsut end up back at normal today screen

if I select todayplus from file I can get it to start up

where have I gone wrong

Hi reefman

1st - TodayPlus is not started manually..  It is checked as a today plugin from \start\settings\today\items..  And should be the only thing checked..

Cities are to be setup in config..  Search for the cities you want to add, and you should then see them on the list..  Then close config, and run the update thru the TP skin that you are using..
Make sure your path and skin is chosen in config..

For the news feeds, just find one you like, or choose one from the ones seen on this forum..  Then enter them also in config..

Start the config.exe and set the base-path to your install-directory of
TodayPlus.

have now got the slider.txt back

default path is set correctly

no other start options selected other than todayplus

still not starting in plus

help - please dont get sick of my constant pleas for help

getting there  -slowly

have got it to display instead of today screen   :D

but the monthly callender callender views are not showing any dates on the callender if you get what I mean  :(

I thought plus should plus make the x minimise icon actually close an application

mine doesn't - if its not supposed to which add on will work ok with plus ie magic button or similar - recommendations please


only other problem is getting my ipaq to access the internet via ny broadband connection

You have to define your poom-filters in config.exe before you can see
any appointments.

TodayPlus is no taskmanager, so it can't do that,. You can use whatever
you want as taskmanager (I think, most of us are using wisbar advance)

This is a little complicated, but you can set up standardfilters for the first:
Open config.exe, go to POOM Filters, in Calendar click "add new", fill in at number of days the days you want to show f.ex. 365. Do that three times
to have 3 filters.
The same at tasks:
"add new" , number of days, sort-order Duedate, check Show overdue
do that three times again to have 3 filters.
That should help to see anything in the calendar.

Activsync is 3.7.1 which is latest version of Microsoft website

on my today screen I get the agenda schedule with appointments over next few days

alonside the current day date (to the right) are 4 small icons

the first 2 move up and down list of appointments

the third appears to just upate ?

the fourth show what I think should be month views of current next month but apart from the month name at the top the callender is blacked out

voila - managed to get my town into weather - and hey I've got weather info and icons - magic

will get a few screen shots up on two or three things for guidance

The updatetime means, the time before TodayPlus tries to refresh again.
If you put a 60 (Minutes) there, it will only refresh after that time has gone
since the last refresh (but it will not do automatically)

O.k. that is a problem, that was caused by your TodayTheme. In the
slider-skin, in the calendar-section,  the font-color is taken from the
TodayTheme.

There are two ways to fix that:

1. Try another TodayTheme or

2. change the skintext (slider.txt):  Find the lines (two in calendar-section):

color,font,-1_9_-1

and change them to another color-code
Example:

color,font,0_0_0   --> black
color,font,255_255_255 ---> white

The three values in the color-code are rgb-values as known in html or
graphic-progams like paint.

whatever I've done has now given me visable options in the filter list which was previously blacked out teh same as the calenders

dont want to change anyhting else  - what do you suggest??

When you change the color values to be positve numbers 1-255, then the
color will be the RGB value you designate. If you are not familiar with
RGB colors Broesell gave you a good start. There are very good
explanations of how RGB colors work online.
 
I modified the slider skin that comes with T+ to create my own skin.
The slider skin uses color references to the PPC OS theme.

(this is the them you choose for your PPC OS outside of T+, it is the
theme that affects the OS and all programs, similar to changing how
you change themes on your desktop computer.)

The slider skin references colors this
way so that your T+ skin colors will match what ever theme you choose
for your PPC. If you were to go into the PPC theme settings and change
the top bar color it would also fix the problem where your skin uses the
color -1_9_-1. The 9 in the G value refers to the top bar color in your
PPC theme. ( see exerpt from skin reference file above.)

When your skin has color refereces to the PPC theme, you can change
how T+ looks by changing the PPC theme. Sometimes the problem is not
in T+ or the T+ skin, it is in your PPC theme color choices.
This is nice when you change PPC theme because T+ plus with adjust with
it to match and be readable.

This might sound a little complicated, since you are new to T+. It was
complicated to me before I started changing color values in my skin and
then seeing how my skin looked. I thought I would give you an
explanation of how color values in the skin work since you are getting into
the skin file now.

So, the reason why you cannot see the text is because your font color is
set to be the top bar color in your PPC theme. The top bar color in your
PPC must be set to black. You are displaying black text on a black
background. It can't be read that way. Also the slider skin is set to have
a black background in the calendar. This can also be changed, but I do
not remember at the moment.

@Reefman: Not that I want to blow my own horn, but if you are happy with the Slider skin, you might want to have a look at my old tweaked Slider (http://forums.jhollin1138.com/viewtopic.php?p=8752#8752) skin.  Unfortunately, I am no longer working on it.  :oops:
