TodayPlus Boards v2

The way TodayPlus is currently designed, scrolling doesn't work well at all.  Yesterday I modified the code to make scrolling much smoother and faster, and am contemplating making the changes permanent.  However, with the new code, ClearType text rendering would suffer some quality loss, especially against backgrounds which have lots of color variation.

I would like to see how many people use scrolling before deciding how to proceed.

At this stage the next version will completly not support scrolling (if scrolled the background would not change behind the plugin, you would have to manually refresh to get the background updated) or will move to the alternate method of display which supports scrolling but with a loss of quality for ClearType fonts.

Scrolling for me is bad.  If a today plugin won't fit without scrolling, it won't go.  At this time I only use TodayPlus and TodayPlayer and they pretty much take the exact size of the today screen.

I use Dashboard so there is no such thing as scrolling for me. Nor would I want to scroll.

No, scrolling is bad, as others have said if a plugin forces my Today page to scroll it gets uninstalled.

Now, I might be able to use a scrollable "window" as it were, that occupies a fixed area on the Today page, but only for POOM stuff, or maybe news.

The whole thing about the Today page for me is at-a-glance info. Scrolling defeats this. That is why TodayPlus's switchable regions work so well.

Please don't degrade ClearType, srs...it works very well for me and I would be really disappointed to see it altered.

I voted never, I think scrolling within the POOM region would be useful, but not scrolling the whole Today screen.

I currently only use two today plug-ins.  Most of the others I used to use are now gone.  Gone are "TaskPlus" and "Calender+."  Gone also is "Tom Gigear's BatMem Time."  However, I still need to use M$ Money's plug-in.  When I "expand" TodayPlus to see my calendar (currently using the default skin) I do currently get the scrollbars.  I am planning to re-do a TodayPlus skin that will give me the necessary space to allow me to use TodayPlus and Money without scrolling, once I get some time that is.

I wouldn't mind an expanded, scrollable region for viewing news or other poom data, but I would rather not have to scroll up&down the entire Today screen!

So, I always try to make it so that my plugins have defined areas to avoid this.

Scrolling? No way ... :shock:
I try to avoid scrolling and make my skin fit to one single screen.
