Title: Does TodayPlus replace all other today plugins?
Post by: alpax on October 31, 2003, 08:26:36 PM
As I understand from the first look at the configs, TodayPlus covers almost everything!

Can someone clarify please if it may replace all other today plugins I currently use?
I have now:
- Today's date (a standard text "Friday, October 31, 2003")
- tdLaunch (25 application icons ready to launch by one tap)
- TodaysInfo (battery and memory info)
- tAgenda (upcoming events and tasks)
- VBirthday (upcoming birthdays and holidays)

I'd like to keep the same or better info and functionality, and also add a small calendar and maybe a clock. The main idea is to use the available space on Today screen more rationally, and maybe improve the way how tAgenda works with the tasks. The most important thing - I don't need any tabs, pages and similar things - I want to have everything in one page without scrolling!

Can TodayPlus fulfill my requirements? What existing skin do you recommend to start with?

Thanks.

Theoretically, TodayPlus can do everything you need.  It can certainly do today's date, battery/memory info, launcher and upcoming events and tasks easily.  You'll need to set up categories to display birthdays and holidays, but that's easy enough.

Do you think you could post a shot of your current Today screen so we can see what kind of thing you have in mind?

I'm a fan of the "flat" Today screen too, with as much information as possible crammed into the 240x268 pixels.

For me TodayPlus has replaced all Today plugins. I had requirements similar to yours, without the birthdays, but as arbitrajeu noted that should easily be done with categories.

5 thumbs up from me! -David

Here is one of my old screenshots - I want to have something like that but better use available space, for example battery/memory graphs could occupy just one line, text "Tasks..." with an icon could be removed, records about holidays should not be duplicated (but holidays/birthdays should be marked somehow), and so on...
And it'd be nice to keep some space for another plugin - I'd like to use UpTime Meter from time to time (ideally T+ should be easily expandable by increasing the number of lines for upcoming events).

You can use Outlook to add holidays (http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/holidays.htm).  You can add birthdays to the contacts (or by hand).  I am just starting to get into POOM & TodayPlus, but you might by able to add a filter to display holdays/birthdays with a special icon.

TodayPlus also does this as well :)
