Calendar skin has been updated to V.9.8.
Has month calendar on main screen
Owner info on main screen
Last update on main screen (just added)
Digital clocks from lightman
gLauncher from fishboy
Battery and storage info left on but collasped

Install instructions:
Put skin file in the skin folder
Replace current config file with this config
Replace Colors-3D file in the Images folder with this Colors-3D

edit: Added Washington Post icons to zip and fixed last update on main screen

edit11-13-2003:This is the new download. Has all files needed to run skin. Added icons for system status thanks to lightman. Calendar in region 0 can be rotated to new month and has a reset button to move back to current month. Narrowed the launcher region so there is no space under the launcher.

Edit: 12-3-03 deleted the file due to it being updated to a newer version.

BTW - what are you using for the "Settings" in the launcher?  I noticed there are only 3 groups set up in the config (Main/Tools/Games).  I don't see anywhere for settings?

Excellent job on this skin.  I tried the previous version of this skin and for some reason had some trouble with it but I will try this one and maybe it will work fine.  I love the look of this skin, so clean and precise looking.  Thanks for your work on this.

I've found some little bugs:

-the first time that i open the agenda dialog the firs row of my appointments on the left side has a text under the first text, if i make an update the text disappear...

-and the second bug is that when I open all the dialog windows they go one over the other:)

I have noticed the problem with the agenda but I haven't figured out why it does it. I have not seen the second problem. Would you mind posting a screen shot? I might be able to see what is happening.

I didn't add any shortcuts for this section. I left gLauncher the way fishboy put it out. However, here is a config with the shortcuts put in for this section. Just change them to what you want.

I found a small error in the "City's 3" weather loader region.  The variable is named "bar" and not "'var".  See section of code below:

1-Under the Glaunch region there is a blank line w/separation

2-How to show the storage status (CF, SD, etc.). It does not seem to work for me

3-I replaced the weather BAR0 to VAR0=3. It still does not work for City3

4->Arrow in the weather region only works 1 way. I can not go back nor loop back

5-In the 1-month calendar, today date is bold. Could you make another color if possible. Bold sur a very small font does not stand out.

After install this skin, I found my RSS and Weather data are carried over from previous skins. I then decided to delete the contents of \Buffer directory in hope that another resync would refresh everything...But now all the weather icons/RSS are gone..Please help how to get them back!
The Refresh button does not seem to have any affect.

I'll let Blazingwolf cover most of these, as it's his skin, but I noticed in the skin that it was barO, so you need to change both the b to a v and the O to an 0 (zero).

I found the problem. I lauch Todayplus as program instead of Plug-in (testing purposes). In plugin mode the refresh is OK...
However I am still having problem with weather rotating with 3 cities...

I'm sorry I missed #5 until know. Unfortunetly TodayPlus does not support changing the color of the day in the calendars. I believe srs said he would add this at a later date. Also, did you get #2 working yet?

Anyway to fix the date?, It seems to run over and ontop of the update.

Haven't tried it, but change the following line in the Calendar.txt file:

initregion,1,999
to read:

initregion,1,0
This tells TodayPlus to start up with page 0 of region 1 displayed, which is the weather page.

One more question...

I like the feature of journalbar to automatically scroll between weather- and news data.
How can I do this with the weatherdata in this skin ? I have defined 3 cities in the config file to retrieve weatherdata and I would like to make it automatically scroll between the weatherdata of these 3 cities... let's say every 10 seconds.
So I only want this feature for the weatherdata, not for the RSS news data.
Anyone know how I can do this ?  :roll:

Personally, I don't think this can be achieved satisfactorily with the current set of commands.  I have done a test with variables and refresh values which I will post up a little later today, but it's all thrown off by manual refreshes and refreshes of other regions.  I've mentioned some suggestions for additional commands to facilitate this in my previous post:

Ok. Here is a fix for the date covering the last update time. I will post the actual skin later, but you can make the changes in the skin now if you want. This code is in 2 spots in the skin so make sure you replace both of them.

What this does is move the last update down and to the right a little.

adbosch, I'm not sure why you are having this problem. Are you using v.9.8? Did you make some changes that might have affected this? I'll try to help but I need a little more info if you have it.

You could also just move the Telephone # over some to eliminate the space but your way woks well too.

Problem with agenda: I don't really understand. Even when copying a freshly downloaded calendar.txt I still get a very thin line after tapping the agenda button (just above TodayPlayer) and/or some appearance of agenda behind the launcher.
BTW also please note the blank space below launcher where the above user also complains about.

I see what you are talking about now. That line is added in by the agenda section. The code looks like this image,0,0,dotted_line.png,tr. To remove it you can comment it out with 2 // or remove that line all together. Another way you can change it is to edit the image that fishboy created. Or, a fourth way, you can make that region smaller by changing the "offsetadd"(check the skin reference for help) code lines. I am planning to increase the size of the launcher at a later date which is why I left it this way. I hope this helps

Hmmm, I'm not sure why this is happening. Will the agenda come up ok if opened by itself? As for the line above Today Player the only thing I can think of is that Today Player takes up a little more space then it should. kind of a "runover" if you will. I do not have any of these problems with my Ipaq with any other plugin that I use. I will download today player and see if I can trouble shoot the problem.

That's strange. I'm not sure why that is happening. Perhaps something happened to the download. Try uninstalling and reinstalling TodayPlus and maybe redownload the skin. I can't think of anything else. Sorry  :(

I've not had the opportunity to try out your skin, personally, but from the screenshots adbosch has posted it looks like he's having the problems when all the regions are deployed (ie main, weather, rss, system info and agenda).  I wondered if there might be any issue with the way the calcspace command is being used?

BW - have you tried it with all regions visible, to see if you get similar behaviour?

PS.  Great skin, by the way - my Today screen still looks like a Daliesque programmer's playground, but when I decide to settle down I think I'll be stealing from your skins  :D

Ah. Now I understand. For me it does overlap for a couple of seconds but then the Agenda disappears. It does sound like a bug. adbosch, since you found it would you like to report it as a bug?

Blazingwolf - thanks for the config file.  One thing, the Titles are incorrect as far as I can tell.  Group 1 should read SETTINGS and Group 2 should read TOOLS.  This places the shortcuts in the correct tab.

Blazingwofl! sorry, I've tried to remove the "image,0,0,dotted..." with no success. (I might've removed at wrong place..). There are many of these even in Agendar section..). To modify image of Fishboy. I don't see which one and how?. There also are several offsetadd statements. I look in the first offetadd argument, which is the vertical pixel. The only offsetadd with first argument different than 0 found in a different region...
So the bottom line. Could you please be a little specific! Many thanks for your wonderful and promt help... :D

Are talking about removing the blank space between the glaunch and the agenda? I found how to remove it. If you look in the skin file, there is a big section that say's Launcher. Go to the end of that section and change the number 38 to 17, it should close up that space.  I hope that helps.

I'd like to shorten the maximum height of the skin by a small amount for asthetic reasons. However, changing the maxheight setting doesn't seem to work. What other settings need changing.

Also, can I change the 'Last Update' setting to a different color font, preferably white? If so, how. I fooled with the font color settings but couldn't get anthing to change.

You also need to change the defregion for the particular region you are trying to shorten, and the offsetadd commands within that region.  Refer to the skin reference for details, or come back with specifics if you prefer.

Try adding two lines, either side of the text commands, thus:

Do you want all of those items open at one time and a smaller foot print? If you do then you will have to reduce the the area of each section. To do this you will need to reduce the defregion and offsetadds for each region. The problem is that you have all ready reduced the area of most sections to there minimums(at least that is what I see in the screen shot). That is why it is nice that those areas can collapse. Does this help?

I was hoping that there would be a way to prevent the modules from showing below the second line from the bottom. No, I don't intend to have all showing. Generally, I would have just the Agenda module open. I just wanted to show you where I'd like the bottom item line to stop. Currently the Agenda items sometime run through the trees located in the right center area of the beach scene and I was hoping there was a way to restrict that from happening. Totally an asthetic issue (and minor at that :lol: ), but I'm trying to understand the programing of this software so I can create my open skins.

On another issue; is there a command that would start the Agenda module automatically after a soft reset. If so, can you point me in the proper direction?

Boy I must be slipping. I completely missed this post. Drumbo, I apologize. The theme and task bar stuff is from a skin from Juni. It is his controlpad skin for dashboard. To start the agenda change this line: initregion,11,999. Change the 999 to 0.


As for the other part. You will need to go to the agenda section. Look for every spot that mentions "calcspace" and "offsetadd". You will need to change these figures to shorten the skin. I will play with it some over the next couple of days to see if I can tell you the exact changes.

I would like to make the Agenda take the whole screen. Currently it resizes correctly to take the available screen size according to which regions are open, But there is a small area at the end of the page not used, can I enlarge the Agenda section to use more space if available  :?:

Your suggestion re: calcspace worked. By reducing those numbers in the agenda section by 5 I have the positioning I was looking for. I didn't change any offsetadd settings, though; it didn't seem necessary.

You should be able to do the exact opposite of what I told rebecker to do. Add whatever number you need to all calcspace locations in the agenda.

I have it set to use my info and apps and am please with the neat appearance it give my today screen.

I would like to change fishboy's launcher tabs to the buttons.  Is there somewhere I can reference so that I might know what lines I am to add and where the .bmp files go.  I have looked for a reference guide but was unable to find anything to help with the proper placement of the code lines.

What do I keep in my TodayPlus folder
In my "Skins" folder - is "Calendar.txt" all I need or "slider" and "analog-weather" from the original install necessary
In "Images"  - "Colors 3-D"  or should there be anything else
In "Weather Icons" - "Washington Post" is enough - or anything else.

As you can see I'm just starting out, so sorry if these are basic questions.

Many props to srs, (Today+), Blazingwolf (this skin), & Eitel (hosting, et al). Am really enjoying working with. I'm a newbie, so am spending a lot of time with the reference guides, but am learning. Couple quick questions.
On the Blazingwolf calendar skin - the month calendar at the top region - seems to be updated by the calendar / agenda region, after a manual update. I'd like to have the top region month be independant, and I can then put imagebuttuns in the top region to page the month forward and back. I'll want to add length to the region to accomodate adding the month / year above the calendarheader.

Specific questions :
Where to look for some reference on calcspace, and understanding of "if region,8,=,0" syntax.
How to seperate the top region one month view from being updated by the calendar region - I'll then put imagebuttons in the top region for paging fore and aft.

Suggestions are appreciated!

In the TodayPlus folder you should see the following folders: Buffer, Images,Skins and Weather Icons. You should also see the following files: config.txt, forcasttext.txt, TodayPlus.exe and uptime.txt. Inisde the skins folder you will keep any skins you would like to use. If you only use mine then that is all you need. In the Images folder you will need to keep any images folders that are for the seperate skins. In the weather Icons folder you keep whatever weather icons you use. If you like to switch skins then you will probably need a couple. Hope this helps.

Where is the complete Calender Skin file located?  Do I use the basic config file I have from 0.9.8 clean start?

As you can see from the reply by Blazingwolf to me - my understanding is that the file called Calendar.txt is in essence a skin file and therefore should go to "Skins" folder.  If the calendar skin is all you need right now or if just do not like cluttered folders then you can delete all other skins.

The config file will go to the TodayPlus main folder and so if put it there it will replace the original config file - if you do not want to loose it you can rename the original config file as something clever like "originalconfig.txt"  :-)

I have not been ignoring your post, just busy. To increse the size of the region you will need to change the size in both region 0,0 and region 0,1. To do this change this line: defregion,0,0,0,240,60,1 to the desired height and this line: offsetadd,0,58. The two offsetadd lines should equal the same size as the defregion.

As for making the month seperate I have not figured out how to do this yet but I am working on it.

I believe fishboy is working on updating his resource guide but has not finished it yet. When he is done that is where you will find the info about calcspace.

I belive it is coded this way because of the ability of collapsing the different areas(I could be wrong, someone please correct me if I am) and it refreshes to see if changes are made. The region 0,1 is there to make sure you see your info all the time. If it wasn't there then the info dissapears upon the refresh.

I am not sure why the defregions are defined here but it was in the slider.txt skin so I left it. The updateregion I put in to make sure that region 18(the calendar) is updated.

Hope this helps a little. And if you want to change my skin to your liking please feel free. I borrowed from others to make this skin and I would never mind if someone uses or changes something from my skin.

Blazingwolf is correct, I am working on the next version of the reference guide and hope to have it ready for the next version release.  In the meantime here is some info on the two commands.

Test if specified page is active in the specified region.

Syntax
if,region,<region id>,=,<page>  

calcspace
Used to auto-adjust the height of a section (i.e. poom section) to help prevent the scroll bars from appearing.  Subtracts the current y offset from the specified value  (<x>) and stores it in the specified variable.  This variable can be used as a parameter (i.e. height) in subsequent commands (i.e. offsetadd, defregion, outlook, etc.).  Version 0.9.8 and later.

Syntax
calcspace,<x>,var<y>

Parameters
<x>   Number to subtract current y offset from.
<y>   Numeric value of variable to use (0-19).

I need to verify for sure if var<y> is subtracted from <x> or vice versa

With your comments and the newer reference (I was using Eitel's at the start of the thread), I've already added the month header to the top calendar region, and added the length.

If I get the chance to work on seperating myself the top month from the calendar section, I will, but this thing is taking on a life of it's own! Wish I had Juni's, Lightman's, or your eye for what looks good! 8)

Made a change to the skin based on a request from snsr. The calendar in the zero region can now scroll from month to month. Also has a reset button to bring it back to the current month. I had to make the region a little bigger to accomodate the month and year above the calendar. I also moved last update and the phone # to make it look a little less cluttered.

I tried shortening the launcher area to remove the space below it according to rbishop and arbitrajeu. While it DID shorten the area it causes a line trough any new module that opens above the launcher. Any ideas?

Secondly, how do I add a clock to the top area. I placed a time command in the area, but found that it didn't actually keep time unless I did an update.

rebecker, I checked your skin. You are clipping the region. You just need to change a couple of lines.
These lines are for the launcher region.
defregion,14,0,0,240,20,1 This was set at 19.
offsetadd,0,18  (at the end of the launcher region) This was set at 17.

Just make those changes and it should work. For some reason I can't put a zip up right now or I would post the skin. If you need more help just ask.

If you don't like the gLauncher you can replace it with the original one. Just copy the original launcher from 1 of the skins and replace gLauncher with it.

Is there anyway to get the launcher to turn back off?  When I click on the icon under the date, I get the launcher just fine, but the launcher icon disappears.  I can't turn it back off without resetting it.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I couldn't find it discussed earlier in the thread.

That's because of the clipping. If you remove the image you take away the part being clipped. Try upping the numbers I gave you by 1. I have been testing this on my skin and it works ok.

Newest version of this skin can be found in the first post. I added icons to the system status area thanks to lightman :D .

This skin is really just an amateur hack of Blazingwolf's Calendar. I can post it, but be very aware that I really don't know what I'm doing. For instance, the launcher area is rigged to only have 1 category and may not be 'standard'. It was all I needed for launch buttons. I think if you look at the coding you will find a lot of questionable entries. But....if you're willing to chance it, AND IT'S OK WITH BLAZINGWOLF, I'll post the skin later today.

This probably has something to do with the filters. Try changing those to see what happens. if you still have problems zip up your config and skin and post it. I will see if I can do something. The poom section is not my strong point so it might take a bit of time.

I'm wonder how should i modify the config.txt and skin.txt if i only need these section only...

The rest of the section, i dun really need it as i have those plug-in.

You can do 1 of 2 things. Comment out each section you don't want by placing a // in front of the line. Or you can just delete the section you don't want. Each section has a spot that tells you what it is. This is all done in the skin file. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Tolkien, Ok. I looked at your skin and config. In the config file you will see these lines:

calendarfilter,1,360,[Categories] <> "Class"
text,calendarfilter1,GENERAL
taskfilter,1,90,[overdue],[Categories] <> "Class"
text,taskfilter1,GENERAL

This controls the General section. At the end of each filter line (bolded) is the filter. This Calendar and Task filter removes all appointments besides "Class" catagory appointments and tasks. If you have nothing in that catagory it will not show. If you want something to show you will need to have a "Class" catagory or change the filter to something else.

The Task filter seems to be working properly for me. The only thing I can think of is that you do not have any tasks on your calendar.

Ask away for the SD and CF card question. I will provide all the help I can. Hopefully this helps you.

That's really strange. Pls tell me if I'm misreading your post and we're actually saying the same thing (I think we're stating the exact opposite):

if I use

then all entries for which Categories does not = "Class" is displayed.

I've modified the line "Class", with the Italian form "Personale" (my PPC2002 is in Italian...) and in this way in the General section appeared some appointments.But in the section Tasks nothing's modified. I have one active task. Previously it had no category, but even changing it to "Personale" it don't appear. So I think having misunderstood something... And if I'd like to display entirely appointments and tasks even without category (I usually record one of those without category...)?
For what concerns the CF I think it's easy: I have a double slot SD and CF but actually is displayed only SD (empty) and not CF (full)...
To finish a curiosity: it's happened twice, suddenly, that my date's gone wrong, considering tomorrow as today (and this mistake starts from the settings of the clock of my PDA)!!!  Do you think it depends on TP as in the past had never happened??

Corphack, Yes, after looking into this more you are correct. This is 1 section I still don't have a full grasp of. The whole learning thing. Sorry, tolkien, I didn't mean to give you incorrect info.

tolkien, does your task have a due date? If not it will not show. I believe that srs is working on this. If you do have a due date I am not sure why you would have a problem.

As for the CF card problem make sure that the line in your config file points to your CF card. The line looks like this:
storage,storagepath1,\CF card\

The bolded area should point towards your card(different PPC have different names). Since you have 2 cards you should have at least 2 lines in the config file. I have 3 so it looks like this:
storage,storagepath1,\Storage Card\
storage,storagepath2,\iPAQ File Store\
storage,storagepath3,\Slot2\

The third storagepath is my CF card.

Your date problem I do not understand. I have never seen this activity on my Ipaq. I have no idea what would cause it. The only suggestion I have for you is to remove plugins and see if you can isolate the problem to specific programs. I hope this helps you out. If not I will keep trying.

For what concerns the tasks trouble, well as you've suggested with the due date it's been solved... but if I have no due date...? we'll wait srs's solution!!!!!
About the section of memory storage, in my config line there's only one line: "storage,storagepath1,\CF card\" but on my PDA desktop appears:"SD?MB" upon an empty bar. Any idea about this?
To finish, tonight while I was performing my syncronization the date has changed from 8 dec, to 9 dec authomatically! I cannot explain this situation, totally new for me...

I think we are misunderstanding each other. Does your pocket pc call your cf card by what is written in the pathway?

storage,storagepath1,\CF card\

If it is then it should some memory used in it.
Since you show the ? in your post I think you need to find the correct name. you can find it by using the file explorer(sorry if I am simplifing this to much but I want to do this right).

The text "SD MB" is located in the skin file. It can be found in region 9 page 0 System information. This is what it looks like:

storage,storagepath1,used,196,0,SD: , MB,c

You can change the SD to say CF in that line. Let me know if this works.
