Entering the url the same as in 10.2 doesn't work in 11. I did leave off the interval and number of pages to cache since there are boxes in config.exe for them.
Thanks,
Have you tried to make the RSS entry directly into the Registry? I recommend PHM Registry Editor (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/). To do so, do the following:
1) Start you regedit application and go to the following key:
\HKCU\Software\SRSSoft\TodayPlus
2) Under the "RSS" key, add a new string value.
3) Give the new string a name of the next available number starting with 1. For example, if name 1 and 2 are already assigned give the new sting the name 3.
4) Enter the value as you did in the old config file but leave off the RSS and number code. For example, adding the Slashdot feed with an update interval 60, it should look something like this (BTW, you can copy and past the information from your config.txt file using "ctrl+c" & "ctrl+v" with the pop-up PPC keyboard):
60,http://slashdot.org/slashdot.rss,Slashdot,0
5) Now go to the key "var" and change the value for "numrss" to match the new number of RSS feeds.
I will look into that, but that seems awefully complicated, when supposedly you should be able to add a url and it appear on screens. Can you tell me how you are supposed to type in the url in the config.exe program? do you start with rss or http, leave off http, etc...?
Ok, let's try it this way. When you used to enter the RSS feed information using the config.txt file, it looked something like this:
rss,3,60,http://slashdot.org/slashdot.rss,Slashdot,0
Now with the config app, all the same information is entered into the registry in the same format. Accept for the "RSS" and the ID (the 3 in this case). You need to enter same address, exactly as before, using the config app (or directly into the Registry) that you used to enter into the config.txt file. So in the case of the Slashdot feed, it should look like this:
http://slashdot.org/slashdot.rss
Now keep in mind that you can copy text from your config.txt file by selecting the text to be copied and selecting "ctrl-c". Then place the text into the config app be doing a "ctrl-v". Doing this will save you from having to type:http://www.dark-mojo.com/tpmobile/topics_anywhere.php?mode=show&out=rss0.91&f=a&n=15&jlp=y&sfn<snip>%3D
Who wants to type all that in when you can copy and paste it. :D
Edit: Snipped the TodayPlus RSS feed url!
OK. I'm apparently not doing something correctly. Here are my current rss feeds:
rss,1,30,http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories,Yahoo Top Stories,0
rss,2,30,http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/politics,Yahoo Politics,0
rss,3,30,http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/sports,Yahoo Sports,0
rss,4,30,http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_world_edition/americas/rss091.xml,BBC Americas,0
rss,5,30,http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/world,Yahoo World,0
rss,6,30,http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/xml/,Pocket PC Thoughts,0
rss,7,30,http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/rss/index.xml,SciFi Wire,0
rss,8,30,http://rss.com.com/2547-1_3-0-20.xml,CNet Tech News,0
I took the first one and typed
http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories
in the config app and it doesn't work. the only thing that appears is the word top stories. What am I doing wrong?
Maybe this will help! It should look something like this:
Edit: I added the first RSS feed (Yahoo-Top Stories) and didn't have a problem. Have you tried clear the buffer using the config app or deleting everything in the buffer directory and resyncing?
I tried adding some other feeds other than top stories and it did work. Sometimes one of the feeds will dissapear for whatever reason. Yes. I did clear the buffer and resync and I appreciate all you help!
:D
Ok, I am pretty computer literate, but how do you cut and paste accross the network. The old config is on my PC and when I try to cut and paste it won't work within the config ver11. I even copied the config onto the PPC and highlite and ctrl-c then control -v no luck within the config.

That is odd, you are right. This latest version of the config app doesn't allow a paste. I had been running a previous version of the config app for some time and I believe it worked fine with that version. I do know you can paste using the steps I provided above directly to registry.
