Title: Weather updates
Post by: LawofA on January 04, 2004, 11:35:55 AM
Hi Everyone:

Is there anyone that have an answer to this problem, because I do not have clue why all downloads to TP works fine except in about 24 Hour period I will only be able to download the weather about three times, the rest of the time I am getting an empty cityX.txt file and no information for the weather. I will check the MSNBC weather site and all will be OK.

I have changed the download frequency so many times so that I can receive someting.

Any answers, solutions.

Thanks.

I am workintg on a similar problem. What I have found is that the rss feeds download first, and if they take a long time the MSNBC server times out. I have changed the amount of pages to cache and the order they download, and it seems to help some.

P.S. I also think if weather update had priorty it mite work better.

Hi joelw135:
I will try reducing the number of pages cached. How are able to determine the order or is it a trial and error method?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have put something on the request for toggle option between the weather and rss feeds. I hope SRS address it.

Well what I did was look at the size of the files and moved the larger RSS to the top of the list.  Let us know if this helps.
