Title: Help - Temperature OK but Units wrong?
Post by: dji on January 09, 2004, 03:00:11 PM
I'm new to TP, and just installed ver 0.11.0 on my iPaq 4150.  When I use the config.exe app to change the Units for the weather from English to Metric (i.e. °F to °C) I get the correct numerical value for the temperature, but the Units are still displayed as °F.  I see °F dislayed for both the English and Metric settings.  The numerical values are fine though, I can see them change when I change the Units setting.  Is this a BUG?

You will need to change this in the skin. The line should look something like:

today,realtemp,23,40,, °F,c

Change all of these type of lines and you will be good to go.

This seems to be a common request for help.  Maybe this should be added to a FAQ, or maybe skins creator should standardize on not adding the F or C character in their temparature displays.  Then if a user would like this displayed, they could add it themselves.

Just an idea.

Thanks that fixed things.

It seems strange that the config.exe application would allow you to convert between to systems of measurement without changing the Units display.  I would think it should be straightforward to change the Units display at the same time you do the numerical conversion.  It only a matter of setting another parameter.

dji, the config modifies the registry...and the TP executable utilizes the skin files to use that registry data to create the screen display...

but the two aren't connected - aat least not at this stage of development.

Good news - lots of freedom to create neat things...

Bad news - occassional glitches as we try to figure out what changes where.

Muddle through, you'll do fine.
