Title: Secondary task sorting....?
Post by: Scotty on January 09, 2004, 03:21:39 PM
Hi all

I have one of my POOMs set to show all tasks, sorted by due date.

it works fine, BUT, I'd like to be able to do a secondary sort, say on subject (so that the tasks will still sort by due date but, if I have several tasks due on one day, those tasks will be sorted by subject).

I've played with changing registry settings (for example, adding [sort-subject] immediately after the [sort-duedate] entry) but this doesn't do what I want (in that case, it sorted all tasks by subject - presumably, it sorted first by due-date, then re-sorted the entire list by subject).

Anyone know if secondary sorting can be done? If not, I'll add it to the "feature requests" threads....

Thanks..........Scotty

I think only one level of sorting is supported at this time, so you would need to make a request for this feature.

Thanks, Fishboy, I'll do that.

After posting, I noticed something rather odd.....when I display all tasks sorted by due date, it works (as I said), but I just noticed that the tasks are also sorted in reverse alphanumeric order !!  I found this by making some new tasks, entitled A, B, C & D....and when sorted by duedate, they are listed by TP in the order D-C-B-A.......so it seems that TP is sorting by reverse alpha (or else there's some OS or outlook default to alpha sort in reverse)

Thanks, glad it's not just me (I thought maybe my iPaq had some weird "reverse sort" function, maybe from some stray software, but I couldn't see anything obvious in the registry....)

I've added it to the feature request area
