Title: 5555 owner help
Post by: jdthird on February 03, 2004, 11:06:42 PM
Been playing around a bit tonight, but having issues with my ipaq and getting any of the downloaded skins to work.

Anyone out there have a skin they did for an ipaq 5555 they could point me to?  Any skin will do, simple or complex, just would like something I can look at and compare what I'm trying to do with what I should be doing. :)

(first time skinner - all my computer knowledge is networking... lots of good that does here) :)

Thanks

john

Almost all of the skins should work for you (except for the vga skins). What is the problem you are having?

Things don't display right.  none of the icons for things like weather and such appear to draw, though I do have the .net cf framework SP2 installed.  I've also edited the skin file for things like my lat/long (found that in one thread) and it recognizes my hometown for the entry for location for weather, but they still never seem to work.

Also, the links for things like available RAM, battery, etc, never work properly or show anything remotely close to correct for any of the storage cards.

I've even gone so far as to hard reset the device, just install todayplus and the .net framework, and still have similar issues.

Hence the reason I thought if i could see what one of the skin files would look like referencing things specific for a 5555 (storage, SD card, etc) then I might be able to use that as a template for mods to other skins to help them work on this device.

All right let's tackle this 1 at a time. Are you using the base skin or are you using another 1? If you are using another skin you will need to place the icons in the correct folder. These icons should be placed in Program Files/TodayPlus/Weather Icons. The buttons will go into the Images folder. Also look in to the skin file and find this line:

options,weathericondir,Weather Icons\Washington Post,png

The bolded section needs to be changed to the name of the icons you want to use.

For lat/long problems make sure that before you leave the input page tap on another entry point. There is a bug in this section that will cause it not to save the info properly. Also, south and west numbers need to be negatives.

For your RAM problems. These need to be set up correctly in the config app. If you look at the first post of the skin I made it will help you set up the these positions correctly.

You can see by my sig that I use a 3955. It should not be that different to set things up for you. Let me know if you still need help.
