Hi Wichtel and all,
Just a brief question. I have Version 1.04ENG txt and folders, Hammerskin, Hammerskin1, Hammerskin English & Hammerskin1 English. The Main version works very well, even Apps-6, but because I use PZP, I prefer the reduced version. However, when I try to use the reduced txts, I end up with the skin loading but the right  icons/ buttons for the pages are absent. I had a similar problem before and went to the german website to download the full reduced package with images and all now I can't seem to find that link only the txt file.
Now my question, is there any reason why the reduced skin could not function well with those folders? Or am I missing something simple here?

       Do you still have the problem with "no-show" of icons/buttons?
       First thing to check is go to configure and tap on the "base path" and make sure it is point to TodayPlus or the folder where you store your image folders.

If you got my package, did you copy the new buttons to the Hammerskin Directory?

@all: Version 1.04a is still work in progress, but the new Buttons are already done. Need just some fine tuning in the Weather section. Should be done tomorrow.

Ahhhhh!  :oops: So that's what it was. Reduced version2 requires those special buttons which I never bothered to download. Version 1.04 works ok without them. Many thanks for all your help.

Hiya All, just installed Hammerskin today & its absolutely amazing....I havent been a big user of Todayplus and certainly havent used for at least 6months....

1st Question:- When I go to the worldtime section, all I get is a basic digital clock or Analogue clock, do we have any other clocks that would suit the Hammerskin.

2nd Question:- I have no icons along the bottom of the main page like I have seen in the screenshots.....Do I need to do something to make this work.

3rd Question:- Has the Satellite weather picture been implemented yet or is that for a future release??

You must rename the new watches in Analoguhr.png and copy into the Hammerskin folder 0 and 1, the available watches are overwritten.

I have renamed the analogue file i want to use and put it in the \images\hammerskin folder, I have no folder 0 & 1......Looking at the time section the digital clock shows with an analogue button at the bottom, when i press it the new clock image i installed shows up, but after a reset it defaults back to the digital version.....I also have the same problem with the weather icons, they default after a reset to the original weather icons not the stardock ones....

You need to change the code in the skin.  I assumed you use Hammerskin1.04aEng.  Here the steps to change "Analogue clock" as default in world time section.

1)   Open Hammerskin in NotePad.
2)   Edit-->Find and copy this code in the "Find what" window,

     imagebutton,211,119,zeitbutton.png,tr,11,4,0,1

3)  Change to imagebutton,211,119,zeitbutton.png,tr,11,4,1,1

4)   Save the skin and loaded into your your device.


To change stardock as default weather icon.

1)  Open Hammerskin and use Find command to find

    initvar,var10,2

2)  Change to initvar,var10,1

3) save and reload

Guys, I am struggling a bit with Apps 6......So far I have got the following Shortcuts added

Suspend
Battery
memory
memory
memory-card

That is all so far, I have a Dell Axim X3i with a file-store and a SD Slot. My file store is roughly 32MB & my SD card is 512MB....There is no CF Card Slot in this device....Can someone help me setup what shortcuts I should have and in what order?? I also don't know how to find out the name of my file-store.....Any help would be appreciated...

Even you don't have CF card, you still have to leave that spot empty.  Otherwise the order will be screwed up.  There is a screen shot in that post, Wichtel explained very details how to set it up.  The key is to set-up "exact" number and position in apps6.  If you do follow the instruction and still have problem, it would be better to post a screenshot of "shortcut" in configure file.  We could help you here.

I am obviously being stupid here...Under the Time/Storage config page in Todayplus config app there currently is nothing, when I try to add a shortcut to the file store according to the PPC it is named "Built-in Storage" I get an error and it doesnt add it, but I can add my SD Card ok, but obviously th shortcuts are out of sequence......Not sure what to do here.....I am not sure how to post screenshots so I cant let u see how I have it so far.....

Since I don't have the exact device you are using, I really don't know where the problem might be.  However, if you keep the first one empty and put the SD Card as the second one and again the third one empty, then try to see it will work in the skin.  At least you get SD Card.  

I think there is free application for you to capture your screen.  There is one built in iPAQ, is there anyone in your device?  Once you get an image, you better to open it up and save as png.  You should be able to attach it in your reply.

Hi, I have attached 2 screenshots of the settings pages in question. All the shortcuts seem to end in file extension .ink as per the download from the site in the apps 6 zip file.

Basically my storage locations as the device reports are the standard device storage, built-in storage(File Store) & a 512MB SD Card.....

  Your apps6 looks fine to me.  Just make sure it is "6th" group.
  I don't see anything in your storage paths.  I will use my iPAQ as an example.

1)  Tap "Add New" under the Storage Paths.

2) Select your build-in storage (it is iPAQ File Store in my case), then hit ok.  You should see it shows up in the window.  In case, you still fail to select it, try to select "/Windows" then continue the set-up.

3) Tap new again and select your SD card (Storage Card, in my device).

You still will see the CF card in the system section.  This can be removed by comment the codes from the skin.  Let me know if you need help to do that.

I wonder if someone could tell me how to setup the last soft reset & time since last reset .I dont think it ever worked right for me.

Can you be more specific?  What skin you ae using?  And why do you think it did not work for you?  A screenshot might be very helpful.

Uk Skinner, Thanks very much for the help....all the memory shortcuts are now working.....Couple of more questions if u don't mind please:-

1) The the yellow bar below the memory bar on the front screen, i believe links to the backlight shortcuts in Apps 6....I have it positioned in the correct place in the shortcut config screen....What is this actually supposed to do? It doesnt seem to do anything on my PDA other than turn red when u click on it.....

2) You mentioned updated the skin to exclude the CF Card, how do I do that & if I do, will it affect the sequence of shortcuts in the config page....

3) I have a task related question, I have 5 tasks in my task list in Pocket Informant, but only one of them is showing in the hammerskin task section....I have investigated this & assume its because the 4 that aren't showing have completion dates for a few days ago, but I haven't completed them yet, is there a way to configure todayplus to still show them on my list?

1) This statement from Wichtel.  That one should link to the exe can control your backlight.  What device your using?  You probably need to find out the actual ".lnk" or exe for your backlight control.  And re-configure in the shortcut.

2.  Comment out the section for CF-card will just not effect anything other than "display CF-card information" (which you don't have one).  Find the codes under region 16.

3)  You need to set your poom filter for your overdue tasks.  Please see screenshot.  Also I found out you need to comment out one code in region 10.

UK, I Have followed your comments to the letter re Questions 2 & 3....But I still have the CF card showing in the memory screen and also, I am still not getting my overdue tasks....I am attaching 2 screen shots of where we are:-

Today plus obtains these data directly from the device. You must nothing adjust. There is a Bug in TD+ it can happen TD+ can select these data no longer correctly after some time. It should work after a Softreset again.
If not you should install TD+ again.

Edit: This Bug can appear after 24 hours running time since last softreset.

I know this. On the other hand, you can do nothing to my knowledge. As soon as no new Shortcut is available, TD+ uses the last name and inserts it in the free seats. Because of this I have done without the names at the Hammerskin.
You say you don't speak any English, where you come from? From your profile this isn't recognizable.

I also could in German, French, Italian and Spanish if necessary answer you.
Tu parles français? O italiano? O español? oder Deutsch?

Piggy:  English is not my primary language either.  Don't let this getting into the way to express or share your experience with us.

As for your question, one way to get away is to add a "blank" one at the end.   :lol:

15th shortcut name = 14th's
16th shortcut, 17, 18... also.
And, I want unvisible(?) 15, 16, 17...
If num(shortcut) is 14.
End shortcut is 14th, not 20th...  :)

Go to confiure and tap "Add New" (the bottom one) then do nothing tap "ok" and you will have a blank one the the end of list.  It will be highlithed if you tap on that position.

I'm also having the same problem. I'm using the default PIM, the English Hammerskin (modified with KaRen's graphics). I've commented out the options,taskfilter,0 added the same filters you have, but my overdue tasks still don't show up. Any help?

What version of Hammerskin you are using?

Do your tasks have start and end date?

I'm using Hammerskin1.04.01a(ENG).zip and my tasks all have a start and end date.

One adjusts this Poom filter in the tasks and move him to the first place.

I figured out the problem. In the english skin all the task filters are commented out. So, I had to add the // in front of the taskfilter 0 and remove it in front of 1. Then it worked as expected. Thanks for the help.

 However, you will have the same problem just like piggy if you don't have "full number" of shortcuts in a page.  In that case, you need to add an "empty" entry at the end.  The detailed was psoted above.

1)  The region,14 is RSS region, you should change to region,20 (see red color)
2)  I still see some var16, so I changed to var23.

I have to admit that I did not try to launch the shortcut this morning.  Try this one right now.  
It appeared that region,20 is a bad one.  I changed to region,19 then everything works.

It isn't working, i used the file you posted but that isn't working. I have an ipaq 2210 and installed whole todayplus in main memory. The skin is working perfect except the shortcuts :-(

I attached the skin i'm using. I tried the imagebutton command with the first shortcut.....

Also i've tried region,19 region,20 and region,21 without any luck..

I have used a shortcut for the clock from the App-6 in one of the program groups the shortcut works fine when clicked but it does not show the clock icon only a general icon

Can you see an icon of that shortcut when you used File Explorer?

I believed the icon is from the program itself.  If you generate a "shortcut" for this program, the icon of the program should be visible.

The shortcut refered to is only a .lnk file with the following contents

Can you see icon of this software under the explorer?  If not, then there is no icon for this sofware.  If yes and no icon is visible for the shortcut you made, then try to remake the shortcut.  

I did have the same problem before.  The icon of shortcut was disappeared after I pull out my SD card.  The exe was located in SD card.  The icon of shortcut was restored after I remade the shortcut.

Yes, I know if you use ResHacker (http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/) to add an icon image into an exe/dll.  But I never done this before.

The simple way is: rightklick the config.png and choose save picture as...  :)

Yes, I can't see shortcut only for  file which is stored on CF card.
I have one more question (maybe this the same problem):
When I'm opening memory settings and go to storage card first item, selected in combo is network (not file storage, not CF card). If I'm choosing CF card - all Ok: I see total volume, in use and so on.
I can't configure inbox to save attachments to storage card. It telling me - look at attachemtent.
So maybe general problem is my CF card?
I didn't made screenshot of desktop screen because you will not see this shortcut. So it's useless :(

I've solved problem:
I had net tools installed. So one more "storage" was seen in explorer, called network (this is the one which I saw in memory property).
So I've removed this SW. Folder storage "network" disapiared. Now I can see in inbox storage (but it shows me iPAQ file storage and I want to use my CF - this my next problem:) ) and I also can make shortcut on desktop which is located on CF :)

Let me start off by saying that this is an excellent site and skin.

I have installed TodayPlus and it works well. I installed it to the Built-in storage on my PPC and left the TodayPlus and the dll in the TodayPlus directory in the main memory. The original slider skin and the weather only skin work fine. But, I can not get the Hammerskin to load up at all. The original slider skin loads up fine. I have set the base path to "\Built-in Storage\TodayPlusData".

I tried to modify the skin to point to the right directory ( Built-in Storage\TodayPlusData\Weather Icons\Stardock_VGA ) but it does not work. If I install the files to the main memory, the skin loads up fine. What am I doing wrong?

I think you should undo the changes in the Skin. When you change the Base Path, have you tryed an Softreset?

Wichtel was right.  Once you change the base pathway, you need exit (not minimize) the TodayPlus and configure completely, then reload TP again.

You can go to system section and you will see "change theme" button at the left-bottom.  Tap it , you can switch between "Hammerskin" and "Hammerskin1" image on the skin.  They are different "color"..

I have reset the device. I still can get it to run from the Built-in storage. i copied the files from the built-in storage to the main memory, change the base path and the program runs. I change the base path to to the built-in storage and the program does not run. I can run the slider skin and the weather only skin without a problem. But i can't run the uniskin or the Hammerskin. Any other thoughts? Its quite strange. I tried for days to figure this out but no luck.

Can you give me the exactly base path?  And are you running other language OS?  What device you are using?  What folders did you have in the base folder?

I just found something interesting. If I copy the TodayPlusData folder to the SD card and set the base path to it on the SD card, I can run the program. It appears that I just can't run it from the Buit-in Storage.

Here is my device info

PPC WM2003se, Dell Axim x50v, I am not using ozVGA. English ROM

I think the Build in Storage on your Device ist sloooow for TD+. I heared from an other member on PPC 'Welt Community, he had the same Problem. The only way for you is to run TD+ from SD Card.

Ok, this was partial of my fault.  While ago, I did a research to look for additional new vars that can be used in TP.  There was only 0-33 can be used at that time.  So I did some work and found some.  It turned out some of them will have wired "side-effect" to the skin.  var51 is one of them.   It has caused the same problem in Spanish OS.  Oddly, it only happened to new PPC (hx4700, X50v).  

Any way, search all the var51 and replace with var2.  var 2 is used in RSS section.  Since RSS section and radar section will not exist at the same time, you can use var2 in both section.  var2 will be reset to "1" once you enter the rss section.  You also need to add that code in the region 1 where "if,region,3,0" codes are.  See below, just add blue ones in the skin.

I got next problem:
when I'm accessing weather tab I got console message:
21 ---   no transit this day
If I close this window my pocket is reseting. If I will leave this message and just switch to main page - I see weather tab - data is correct.
I made clear buffer - same thing.
I've removed last SW I installed (super WABA) - same thing.
What is wrong with my Pocket or Today plus?

My opinion is, you have found a bug in TodayPlus. The text "no transit this day"
is given from the mooncalculation. It is possible that a moonrise or
moonset does not occur relative to a specific place on a given date.

As that is really rare, I'm sure, nobody did notice that before. I don't
know a solution for this problem, but I'm sure, it is gone latest tomorrow.

Hi, just downloaded the skin and installed it, LOVE it. Two questions;

1. I don't have the radar and stock folders. Screen is blank when these two buttons are clicked. Did I download an incomplete version, or is there a separate download for radar.exe, etc?

2. I need to change the font, especially the ones with shadows, they look fuzzy against the background. Hope someone can tell me which section of skin file I should edit.

Never mind, I got the font problem fixed. I still have problems with radar. I found the necessary files and put them in the place where they ought to be:

radar in the Images folder
radar1 in the Images folder
radar in My Doc folder
radar.txt in My Doc folder

I still can't get it work. I have the indicators showing at the bottom of the screen, but no images.

Here's how I get my radar images from weather.com:

1. Go to www.weather.com
2. Enter your zip code at the top of the page (Local Weather input box)
3. A new weather page opens for your city.  
4. Scroll down a ways, and you'll see your local radar.  Right click on the image and click on "properties."
5. Copy and paste the url listed in the properties window to your radar.txt file.  The url should look something like this:

http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_dsm_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg

6. The images on the main city pages are too big for my device (QVGA), so I modify the url to point to a smaller image.  Through some experimenting (not a lot required as you'll see below :) ), I found the url of the image I needed.  For example, I change:

image.weather.com/web/radar/us_dsm_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg

to

image.weather.com/web/radar/us_dsm_closeradar_small_usen.jpg

Works great for me.  Hope this helps!

Also, you don't have to use weather.com exclusively - there are others out there. One option is accuweather.com.  They have a special section of their site set up just for weather data on pda's.  

1. Go to pda.accuweather.com
2. Click on the "Choose New Location" link towards the bottom.
3. Enter your zip code.  A new window opens with your city's weather.
4. Click on the "My Satellite" or "My Radar" links towards the bottom. A new window opens with the image.
5. Right click on the image and choose "Properties."
6. Copy and paste the url in the properties window into your radar.txt file.
7. These images are already small enough for my PPC, and work well as is.

DeftOne, thx for the help. I did what you said, and it worked out beautifully. A small question: the update bar at the bottom of the radar screen doesn't seem to work. I have to run the radar.exe every time I want to update the radar images. I must be doing something wrong. The radar & radar1 folders are in the "Images" folder, and the radar.exe and radar.txt are both in the radar folder. Any ideas?

You have to add Radar.exe as a shortcut in Group 7, Slot 1 (apps-7-1) in the TD+ Config.  There's a brief reference to this in the Instruction.txt file that is bundled with Hammerskin, although it does not give full instructions.  I had to examine the skin file to figure out where to put the shortcut.

1. Open TD+ Config.exe
2. Go to Shortcut tab
3. Make sure there are at least 7 groups defined in the Shortcut - Groups window at the top, and highlight the 7th group.
4. In the Shortcuts window below, click on Add New and add Radar.exe as the first shortcut.

When you click on the update button on the weather page, the radar page, or the main page, it should now run Radar.exe and download your radar images.

Put the picture in both Hammerskin and Hammerskin1 and you won't get a problem ?

the command is image,x,y,image.png[,t if it is transparent]

I've have installed the Todayplus and WA2 in my IPAQ File Store and upon rebooting, my today screen can only display the top left corner of the whole screen.

I've copied the necessary files for the WA2 and todayplus folder as
indicated here (http://forums.jhollin1138.com/viewtopic.php?t=1939) and selecting the  Hammerskin 1.05.6.b VGA Eng.txt in the Config.exe.

I'm currently using a HX4700.

Any advise?

I am having a problem with the the Radar City page. The only thing at the bottom of the radar image is the text "Update" and "City". The buttons are all missing for the 8 way navigation, menu, indicator selection and next image arrow buttons. :cry:

The Radar and Satellite Album page is working correctly showing all the navigation buttons as well as color selector for indicator chage. So I am baffled why the city radar page is not functioning correctly.


I have tried to install the skin over and over and it doesn't help.

UPDATE:

OK I figured out what went wrong the image buttons where gone from the radar folder somehow. I didn't realize that the images where stored in two different places ...I just assumed the button images where being accessed identically in the same folder which is why I got confused.
Everything is working now.

You've got too much going on at the bottom where the 'calendar' and icons are; you seem to have two lines there and you should only have one.

Can you switch something off the today screen, you can only have todayplus running with Hammerskin.

In the options in settings 'Today' have you got another prgram running other than todayplus?

What is happening on his screen is a problem with WM5. The screen space on a device with that os is smaller in height. Thus the skin doesn't fit. However, to modify the height of the skin will mean a problem.

Hopefully someone with greater experience will chime in on how to work with this height limitation. There may be programs out there that can remove that bottom row in which the running icons appear on the WM5 os. I will try to do a search on the subject and maybe we can get it figured out. :D

here it is :D , problem is that after soft reset it went back to the original. I had to change the skinin config file  again to reduced one. I dont know why it didnt get saved. That tool bar with icons at the bottom is annoying me though. I wish I could get rid of it. But that is to much for me yet. I see on the screens differente upper bars and bottom bars, can the program wisbar advance do it? It is also slower for some reason.

I have everything installed in main memory. I am runing low on memory. Can I install it to storage card. Or have just the exe and dll in main and the rest in storage card?

You can do, put the buffer, skins, images, weather icons, etc folders, somewhere else and make the directory they are in the new base path in config.

That said, I couldn't get it to run on my Hx4700 on the SD card as I think it loaded up too slow so to get it to show I had to manually reload it... :(

You can delete the WM5 bottom bar. Open the Explorer, go to Windows\Autostart and delete or move (it's better) the hidden entry: Init_Tray.lnk.

A few weeks ago someone attended me at Wisbar Advance Desktop (Lackerifge Software. That program make vitual page (or more, if you want). You can completely play with all the bars in WM5: the upper bar, and the two bottum bars. Keep tree or two or one or zero bars. What can you wish more...

This would be a nice tip! But unfortunally I don't have this hidden file. I've only BTTray.dll, poutlook.dll, WiFiInit.dll and WLNPWRCTL.lnk. With no .lnk  I can let disappear the WM5 bottom bar.

If you hear another possible solution: please let me know!

I do own Wisbar Advance as well as Wisbar Advance Desktop so I was aware . I was just trying to avoid this if at all possible. However, I went ahead and loaded them and it is working well as you can imagine. :D

is there some way to get TP to use the Radar.exe exclusively for updates while in the cradle. I have been using the button trick you gave me but that only utilizes the radar.exe update if pressed manually. The auto update done while in the cradle is utilizing the old update system that uses msn. I use the radar.exe to utilize the yahoo scipt for getting weather since that is accurate.

Ah ha, yes I have seen that before. OK Thanks. I am contiplating wheather or not I want to do it. I am not too excited about having all these exe's. it is getting a bit complicated. It is too bad that the development never made it further for TodayPlus.
