Not strictly T+, but at work I cannot update T+ as my PPC cannot access the internet through my work PC.
I've been unable to find a way to connect it up (cannot use IE on PPC, etc.), is there a way to work around this that any wizzes know?
I bet your work uses a proxy server. This was always a problem with TodayPlus that SRS couldn't figure out. I believe at one time there was a solution that worked some of the time, but I am not sure.
BTW, I moved this question to "Help & Support."

Thanks, I could ask IT at work for help, but they have a 'Can't help desk' and wouldn't even start with this one as they would say that it is not in the company's interest (which it isn't, it's mine! :D )
Is anyone aware of the solution please?
I can't believe this!! TodayPlus was turning into the perfect today screen addition until I tried a sync at work. I can't update from work and when TodayPlus tries and fails, it erases all the data! AAAUUUGGGHHH!
The interesting thing is that I can access the internet from work. In fact, I'm typing this e-mail from there right now. But when I put my PDA in the cradle, I can't access anything using PIE or any other device program. Isn't that strange? I can go to Yahoo.com on my computer, but not using my PDA.
Could it be that I need to adjust my "Work" or "Internet" settings on my PDA?
If I can't get this to work, I'll have to go back to my Dashboard... :(
If you are doing some update from TP and fail, its likely some of the Ports are closed or blocked by FW. :)
With all of the AP's out there you should be able to update somewhere. I live in a fairly small town and pull up in front of my friends const. co. office and view the fourms ,update, (via his AP) and have a cup of coffee all on him.
Here's the problem: I can update at home using my PC, or even on the road via my cell phone and Verizon. The problem is that I have to sync with my work computer to manage my schedule, contacts, etc. When I do that, it wipes everything off of TP.
The firewall at work is extremely strict for PDA devices. I don't know how they do it, but I can't go anywhere on the internet via my PDA. But there are very few sites blocked on my desktop computer. So I can't sync my pda with TP, AvantGo, personal e-mail, etc.
Again, I could sync TP at home but the data will be erased as soon as I sync at work. This makes it a no-go for me.
Hi NObody,
I have the same prob as you. What I did was I set the update timing to 12 hrs. So I only need to update at home. When I in office, I dont update the weather. I am not sure will this help. :D

Did you try to not do Refresh on Sync in the first
page of config.exe ?

Did you check the connection setting in the ActiveSync? What does it show if you chose "Connecting Settings"? I have everything checked except the "Allow serial cabel....".

I have done this to stop it clearing the screen when I sync at work, so it does work.
I'd still rather be able to find a way to sync at work though... :wall:
I've tried every possible setting combination possible, but it just won't work. Somehow I am unable to connect to the internet via my computer at work. I'll continue playing with it, but doubt it will ever be solved.
Syncing just at home isn't an option for me because I typically do all my sync and charging at work and rarely connect at home. I could start doing it, but it's more trouble than it's worth because I have a dial-up connection. It's easier to just use something else.

Sorry to hear that.
If you can not have internet connection in your device through your work PC(in other words you can not use PIE), then TP can not get internet connection neither for other software. However, sync with your work PC is a seperate issue from getting internet connection. You should be able to sync PPC regardless you have internet connection or not. Is this your were talking about, can not get sync with work PC?

This is why I don't use RSS, and update the weather whenever I do connect up at home; as long as I do it every few days I keep my weather relatively updated.
Though at work we appear to be going wireless, so if I was to get a new wireless PPC that may be an option for me! :)

Uk, I can sync at work just fine. However, I can't sync with Avantgo or access the internet in any way with my PDA. I can access the internet using my desktop, but somehow my PDA is blocked by the firewall. I'm guessing it's because they only register certain computers to reach beyond the firewall and my PDA is not registered for that.
I know you said you have tried every possible way. I just would like to show you this image. If you did it, then still can not access internet from your PDA.......
If you have already hotsync and you have internet access in office, then you shld be able to access internet in PDA as well e.g. www.google.com I dont think its the FW. Maybe some setting in ur PDA or the activesync is not right.
I've already set my pass-through to connect to the internet. I've tried every possible setting and just can't get it to work. I can connect at home and automatically connect to the internet and browse around, but everything at work pops up a screen saying "Access Denied" or something to that effect. I'll try to take a picture of the screen tomorrow and post it here so you know what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure I am accessing the internet, but the firewall is not allowing me to open any web sites.

NobodySpecial,
I have no solution, but maybe I do have an answer here: http://www.jhollin1138.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1710&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20

This is a screen shot from my PDA trying to connect to Yahoo from work. Just as an example, I'm typing this post from my work computer! My desktop computer connects to this same site with no problems, but PIE shows that I'm blocked. I'm guessing that my PDA doesn't have a recognized IP address, so it won't allow it to utilize the firewall.
If anyone knows how to remedy this problem, I'm all ears!

NobodySpecial,
I'm almost sure that your administrator at work is the only man who can solve this problem for you! My advice: contact him!

OH ya , I remember something. In some Org, access to internet is controlled by the IP address. e.g. only auth IP can go through. I am not sure whether PDA has its own IP. Anyone knows?
That's what I mentioned earlier. I think my desktop computer IP address is registered on the network and is allowed to pass through the firewall. The PDA is NOT registered on the network, so it can't pass through.
That seems to be the logical reason.

My thoughts are that it is based not on IP but on ports.
At home we have a LAN and to the internet all the computers have the same IP; I should think it is the same with the PDA through a computer.
I cannot run Mozilla Firefox on a work PC, I should think they block that port too.
