Hi All,
I haven't posted a skin in here in awhile, so here is something simple I made, and is based on my UniSkin 2.0 Skin (http://forums.jhollin1138.com/viewtopic.php?t=1867)!
This is an "RSS-Only" skin that I use along with WAD (since WAD can't do RSS). Since I also use my UniSkin 2.0 often, this skin is also based from the same config setup! It is also based on TP being installed on my CF card, so if anyone wants different, the skin will have to be modified!
It is also setup to run "Radar.exe" when the update (on the bottom) is run! The list of RSS feeds I used is in the list in the UniSkin 2.0 thread. This RSS-Only skin including the VGA images is only 58k small!
A screenshot of the skin is below:
Here is some detail about the skin:
* Black Box (upper left) - Toggles screen text from black to white, depending on the color of the background used!
* Green 'down' Arrow (upper left) - For page refresh..
* Top Left / Right Arrows - Changes forward and backwards between RSS feeds.
* Vert. Arrows (far right) - Scrolls down thru headlines, displaying 5 at a time! (20 headlines available for each feed)
* FilmStrip Image (far right, top) - this toggles between 2 feed modes! In the screen view above, the "News feeds" are displayed. (4) feeds can be added here.
Tap the FilmStrip, and change to the 2nd mode that can hold (3) additional feeds. Here I have a Forum feed, Movie Theaters, & Movie Reviews!
* Bottom (Last Update) Line - tap to update feeds!

Yes, I have an x50v, and this is in VGA. Sorry, maybe I didn't say that in my post!

The axim has arrived! But it would seem I have to do something to make it work on this kind of device... :?
I saw a post having to use tweaks but it made reference to wm2003 so I don't want to go screwing up my device. Can you help me?

Congrats on getting your new device! I'm sure you'll love it!
TP needs to be made "VGA Aware" in order to properly display a VGA skin!
The best way to do this is using Tweaks2k2. Use "VGA BruteForce" from Tweaks to modify the TP.exe & TP.dll files!

This has about 40 tweaks for free, but I'm not sure VGA BruteForce is one of them! I have the Tweaks2k2 full version...

Can't blame you for wanting to protect your device! IMHO, Tweaks2k2 is a great program to have! I use many of the tweaks at all times on my Axim.
Of course, a good practice is to backup your data before any tweaks anyway..

Good News. It does appear that brute force is in the lite version. I haven't had time to try anything yet. I will post when I do with a screenie. :wink:

OK, it appears on my screen for a split second and then dissapears. When I test it with tp.exe it works great. Not sure what is up. VGA hack is working though because it is sized correctly.
I think you only needed to replace the dll.... oooops!

no joy. it still doesn't work. I tried reinstalling and then just applied your reshack dll only and it still does the same thing.
I am just not willing at this point to go buy tweaks. I know it is wonderful but I have TP on my qvga device so I guess I will have to stick with that.

This thread has the link to a free way to do this but the link is too old. Brighthands boards have been updated and that link no longer points to the directions on how to do this for free. I will try to search but in the meantime that offers no help. :cry:

Guess what? It didn't after all... It shows in the menu as a bold darken type which is indicative of the tweaks that work ...the ones that don't work or that are not included are grayed out. For some reason it wasn't grayed out so I thought it would work. It doesn't though. When you try to use it it flashes up a message that it is in the pro version. Don't know why they didn't gray it out like the others that are not included. That was sure confusing.

I have tried this and still not working. Weird weird and weird. I am going to uninstall it and reinstall clean...I don't know what else I can do now.
The only thing that I can think of is that the new ROM A12 is the culprit.

I think the Problem is your Device. Make a complete Backup of your Device, than an HR and try a new installation of TD+ on the blank Device.
I was going to ask if you remembered about the expiration issue, but my dll had overcome that...
Sometimes a hard reset & reinstall just works.... ;)

Yes, it really has nothing to do with WAD directly! I just run it thru WAD!

Thanks I figured. I have been so busy I haven't had time to do a hard reset. I am not entirely ready for that right now since I am running TP on my qvga device. I am sure I will get around to it eventually. :wink:

I've just done a hard reset and used it (it installs as VGA and overcomes the expiry issue), though interestingly Hammerskin didn't work until I changed the directory name from 'SRSSoft Todayplus' to just 'Todayplus' (and then I had to tweak the registry in the same way too).

Yeah, I am sure I will get around to it eventually. I am just waiting until I have to hard reset again and then I will try it out. Right now I am content to run TP on the qvga. :D

well I got around to experimenting with some other things and tried Wichtels Hammerskin in VGA and it works fine so the problem isn't today plus. I am going to investigate some things on my end. For one, when I tried to copy the image folder over I kept getting an error that memory wasn't sufficient or something. However, when I opened the image folder and selected all the images and drug them into your image directory on my device, they transfered. Something is weird... The RSS only skin does test correctly when I activate the today plus.exe so we are almost there. Now, I just need to figure out how to get your rss skin to stick. It still appears for a moment and then disappears when I load it. Sounds like it may indeed be with the image files being corrupt or something.
What I ended up doing was erasing my tp registry entries and reinstalling a dll that is a vga version and Hammerskin is looking great so I know we can get yours going here with some perseverence. :wink:

Can you specifiy what is meant exactly by modifying the skin if I store TP in main memory?
I see the radar and suntime exe's are in your skin as cf card but I don't see anything else.
