Hi,
One thing that is bothing me is when I preform an update it will not show the correct weather data. And then I hit refresh and it will change again but not necessarily to the correct data. I am not sure what in the world to do. Can someone help me trouble shoot this?
TO APPEND THIS:
I notice that the weather data is correct when I do a sync only. It would seem a wireless refresh of weather is the culprit.
OK I spoke too soon. now the data is showing the moon and fair. It is noon time here and it is foggy. It had shown fog for a moment and now the moon is back up on the screen. Strange. It doesn't seem to help clearing the buffer as the problem keeps coming back over and over.
At the moment there is a problem with the weather server. Some German User's have also this problem (me too). Make Clear Buffer and delete all temporary Internetfiles by hand, and try another sync.

Thanks Wichtel.
Well, I have been trying all day and it is still not working apparently. I hope it get's straightened out. I don't recall this ever happening...strange. I wonder why it is doing this now.
Groovin,
Can you please describe in a little more detail the problems you are having with your weather forecast. I, along with UK, wrote a couple of PHP scripts to deliver a more timely weather forecast. Lately, I also have noticed some weather forecast issuses.
With some additional detail, maybe I can help.
Thanks...

Hi EEmond,
Thanks for the offer. Let's start methodically since I think the first factor I need to rule out is if I have the correct weather list. I am going to post it here below. Can we first determine if that is correct? I have it named to forecasttext.txt within my program files. I would assume this is the correct name for the txt file.

Groovin,
My file is named forecasttext.txt and resides in the folder where TodayPlus.exe is located, however the contents are quite different (see attached).

OK, this is what is happened. I clear the buffer and Internet files and then soft reset.
Then I connect via wifi or activesync and tap the refresh. The forecast shows the moon and clouds and the forecast is nothing near what it should be ...I can refresh again and it may stay the same or it can change to something else that is totally off again. Yesterday, the forecast was the same thing all day...
Hi Wichtel,
I didn't see your post but I believe my post is correct now anyhow.
Groovin,
Below is the standard TodayPlus weather URL (your acid will change depending on the configuration):
http://www.msnbc.com/m/chnk/d/weather_d_src.asp?acid=USMa0046
If you are using the standard TodayPlus weather, this should be the source of your forecast. If you are using some Radar.txt weather extension, the forecast may vary. What does your city1.txt in your buffer folder look like? Can you share that with me?
Thanks...
Regards,
EEmond
Here you go EEmond,
btw were is that url located on the device? Is that in the program files. I must admit, I have never looked for it anywhere.
Here is my city 1
EEmond,
I do believe it is the city data on msnbc that is the problem. If I compare it to my city 2 I can see that the update time is still showing 12 midnight which would explain the moon and clouds. However, my city 2 is showing the correct update time for now this afternoon so the local feed seems to be stuck on their end.
Moved to "Help & Support" for organization.
Sorry about that Jim
Now I am really loosing my mind...
That doesn't seem to be it either because now city2 buffer time is showing updated at midnight as well. I have tried deleting temp Internet files on my computer and when I test the feeds on the computer they show the same darn thing. that was the case yesterday. they are stuck. can this be a problem with my temp Internet files? Perhaps someone can test my city 1 with the feed above and tell me what you get? CT0091 would be the acid.
EDIT:
The only thing I can see is that the standard TP weather url is not working. I tried some additional cities and the same thing is happening. That url is either broken and my computer is somehow holding on to temp internet files even after I clear and reboot. :?:
Groovin,
What you have discovered is the reason so much effort was devoted to learn how to use a more timely weather forecast source. Not too many people use the MSNBC Weather Forecast Feed exclusively. Check out the Developer's Corner Discussion for a couple of alternatives.
Regards,
EEmond
Great, I am glad to hear there are alternatives. I would assume there will be guidance on how to apply changes. I have no idea where the source url is stored or how the program uses it.
Could this be related to the issues we were having here whereby when we update the weather sometimes it gives 'today' as a day that was really a few days ago?
Could be... I had to change my PHP Script (forecast_yahoo_txt.php) to work around the untimeliness if the MSNBC Weather Source. If you experience your problem again, check the MSNBC URL above for your acid. If it looks strange, it is probably the source of your problems.
Regards,
EEmond
Hi EEmond,
I do see the various options over on the developer side. However, I would like to know where it is that you place the scripts. It doesn't really say. Sounds as if everyone already knows. Things are not the easiest to understand on these boards. Can you give me a bit more detail on how these work. I can see some that have been developed where you change your lang. citycode etc...I understand that part.
EDIT
OK for any newbs like me this is the deal. You can use this script:
http://forums.jhollin1138.com/viewtopic.php?p=12603#12603
Follow the directions. All you do is add the script url to your radar.txt file in your documents folder.
For EEmond, I am back up and running now...all the information is current and correct. :D
Sorry, guys, I missed all the actions here. Blam to World Cup. Wichtel, your team is good. Good luck on Friday game.
Hopefully, all the issues were resolved, if not please let me know what I can do for help.
aaahhh ha! another one of those world cup excuses... :D
Well the Americans stunk (not that we expected anything great, but one did have a glimmer of hope since their rank was the best it has ever been) so we have again turned our hopes to Cardinals baseball at our home- although our team stinks too. I guess we will have to continue to follow the cup and pick a team to route for ...it is very exciting!
Thanks for find that topic Groovin; I went out of the T+ fold a whilst that was on so missed it, will look at it soonish!
Ah the WC, we're still in it ;)
No problem glad it was a help. Good luck to all in the world cup. it is an exciting time!
Good luck to all? ;)
There can only be one winner :)
Yes, I am a wimp...dono who to side with. I am of German ancestry for for a while it was them, then I have a friend who is from Spain so it was them. Don't know anyone from Ghana so ....I am all over the place. :?:
So when I say all I can know for sure my team will win!!!!!
