I've begun translating the forecast file to my native language, but since the default one that comes with TodayPlus only has about 20 descriptions, I'm left with many forecast still in english.
The problem is that I don't know the right index number for the forecast descriptions that are missing. I also noticed that the new ones don't match the old widlist.txt so my hands are tied.
Is this clear to you srs?
I have also started to localized forecast file in French but I am in the same situation as LightMan.
I have tried to get the codes from weather.com but unsuccesfully.

...and the funny thing is that the problem is not with the unknown codes, now we can add those, but it's the known codes (to the program) that aren't in the forecast file yet.
In order to provide the best possible options for non-English translation, I personally think that all the forecast text should be in the forecasttext.txt file, rather than just the extra definitions. This would reduce the footprint slightly in cases where complete translations are carried out.
In addition, I noticed that TodayPlus picks up changes to forecasttext.txt "on the fly". Would it not be more performant only to read and parse this file on reload of the plug-in? I don't imagine the content of the file will change very often, especially once we have a complete set of code/text.

All you have to do is wright them in, write them in your languge. And the ones that came with .txt file are the origanal ones. I am missing your proplem here. Mine works fine, As i come across what is missing i just add it.

There are no longer any hardcoded descriptions in TodayPlus. All of the descriptions I have are in the forecasttext file. I think perhaps you guys are talking about the current conditions text still being in English ? if so than that description is provided directly by the feed itself.

its a trade off between memory / cpu. Since I don't think the forecast text will be called *very often* I think its better to do it this way. Besides, the difference will definately not be noticeable.

No, there is something wrong then.
My forecast file has all the text in portuguese, and the forecast text I get for the
current conditions always comes in english, no matter what city I select and even with different skins (properly updated to v0.9.7)
All other forecast text reads from the forecast file, but on my ppc, not the Current Conditions...srs, maybe you missed that one?

I think srs is saying that the current conditions text comes in the feed in English, so there's nothing he can do to translate it. Either we're stuck with English or some more clever translation is required. Not sure how this would be achieved. For example, in my feed I see this:

It would be nice to find a way... perhaps writing the value that the feed provides into a file and have a correspondence table file somewhere?
Translating it 99% is awsome, but with the current conditions always in another language, the whole idea of translating the forecast description looses a bit its point because of that 1%

I don't think it would be possible to translate the current conditions because I dont think it matches with the same text as the forecast. ie. forecast text are completly separate from current conditions.
Given that our French, Portuguese, Dutch, etc colleagues appear quite passionate about this...
Would it be possible, albeit a little CPU-hungry, to allow them to empirically build a lookup file. That is, if there is a file called currentconditions.txt in the TodayPlus directory of the format:
Rain,Pluie
Cloudy,Nuageux
etc
So if the current conditions text is found in the file, it will display the translated text.
For those of us without a second language, we'd simply not have a currentconditions.txt file.
yes I suppose thats possible... I'll have to think about how to best implement this....
