HI I have made the changes required to get weather for my local area. But what do i have to do in active sync to get the weather?
I have three things in AS rite now..calendar,notes,tasks. I dont see any option for weather..please help...any help will be greatly appreciated...
This is the best plugin i have ever seen/used to this date. Thanks!
It should update automatically while ActiveSync'g. However, you can select the "Refresh" icon to have it done manually while syncing or connected to the internet.
Note also that you might have to delete the cityx.txt and cityx.txt.time files from the Program Files\TodayPlus\Buffer directory on your PocketPC. This will force TodayPlus to refresh the weather data as soon as you press the refresh button.
Hi, there is nothing in the buffer folder and I hit the refresh button...still nothing for weather or RSS....do you have to be able to surf on the axim to get all this information?
I am at work..and i know i am behind a firewall....other than that...everything is by the book.
Thanks again..I will try once I have time from my home to see if I can get the data..
What options should have for the internet options on the AX?

TodayPlus uses standard internet protocols to get at weather and RSS data, so broadly, yes, you need to be able to surf to get that information.
The first test is whether you can surf the internet on your Axim through Pocket IE. If you can't then you have a different problem, unrelated to TodayPlus. Whilst we might be able to help, you are better off at www.brighthand.com with such general issues.
I'm also working behind a firewall and cannot get my IE to browse the internet, so it's certainly outside TodayPlus.
I have searched BrightHand a number of times but cannot find any simple reference what to do to get on the internet when you are behind a firewall. Any pointers would be much appreciated
That's more tricky.
For example, When I am at work :
- I can surf on the Internet thru PocketIE
- But, I cannot update Todayplus (neither Mobimate Worldmate, ...)
- And I can retrieve information from AvantGo.
Everything depends on the way each software handles proxy/firewall authentication.

I'm in exactly the same position. I'm trying to discuss this with my network team to understand what might lead to this behaviour. I'd dearly love to get it working, if possible.
To surf on the Internet from Pocket IE when you are behind a firewall, you have to go to the Connection parameters, set 'automatic connection when at work' to 'Work parameters'.
then click on 'modify' button.
You shoulf have a 'proxy parameters' tab at the bottom of the page.
Click on it and then check all the boxes and click on 'advanced' button.
Enter your proxy address and port (usually 80 for HTTP and 8080 for Socks) for both HTTP and Socks.
Choose Socks4 or Socks5 (usually Socks4).
You have also to check if the 'passthrough' option is checked in Activesync options (in Activesync, 'options' then 'rules' tab and at the bottom choose 'Work'.
Now if you launch PocketIE and enter an URL, before you reach the targeted site, a window will pop up asking for your authentication data (login and password). Just enter them and that's it.
Simple, no?

there was somebody who posted in the brighthand thread about installing a program on the pcc that allowed todayplus to work. It was towards the end of the thread if that helps.
Okay, I managed to get my problem sorted by installing the Microsoft Firewall client that comes with ISA Server.
For those on a Microsoft network, if you can browse to your proxy server, find a directory called Firewall client or Proxy client and run the SETUP.EXE. I didn't actually have to do anything else - there aren't that many configuration options either.
Having read back through the Brighthand thread, it seems that some people have had some success using ProxyPlus, which can probably be obtained from here:
http://www.proxyplus.cz/
(my company's WebSense won't let me check the link).

This is the post from Brighthand (http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=598307#post598307) that srs is refering to.

TransFXB
TransFXB and others,
Thanks for your suggestions. I've been away from work for the last 2 days and keen to get in on Monday to see if I have any luck with the suggestions. Hope I do.
Thanks again - I'm really impressed with the tremendous spirit of co-operation and sharing going on by you guys who are the experts to the rest of us.

Hi, I already posted elsewhere in this forum. I'm using Proxyplus with HTTP-port 4480 and SOCKS5-port 1080. My pocketPC 2003 works fine: I can browse the Internet and other programs that use the PIE-settings work on the Internet without problems.
Only, updating wheather-info in TodayPlus does not work, both in the cradle ande wireless. I hope someone can help!

Sounds like I have a similar setup to you. I have no problem with browsing the net but I get some problems with today plus. I find I get a fatal application exception in todayplus.exe I started a thread about it here but we couldn't workout what went on. I've also tried ezProxy with similar results.
I do find that if I hit refresh again after the fatal application error (and the next and the next...) I'll eventually get all the detail I want. I've had some success with cutting down or out my rss feeds. Now that I've realised that I don't use the rss feeds much I may try cutting them out completely.
Hmm I might try putting in a file ref url to get a bunch of static data for my rss just as a test.
BTW my connection settings are "Work Settings", "Work Settings", "Work" with my proxy set like you
OK. I'm very interested in your progress on this. Keep us updated!
I made no further progress on this issue
Hi,
is it possible to enhance td+ so one can save the proxy server's account and password? The Pocket Internet Explorer has this feature and I can surf the internet at work behind a proxy.
After trying to get the weather info at work some files in the Buffer folder contain an info like:
Username authentication is required for using this proxy.
Either your browser does not perform proxy authorization, or your
authorization has failed.
