Title: Reduced skin
Post by: Nick123 on November 04, 2003, 02:30:27 PM
I've been trying to modify the existing skin to suit my needs without much luck. I really only need the weather part and the appointments list. For what it's worth, I've managed to make a 'just-the-weather' skin (attached, for cities London & Paris).
Does anyone know how to tweak this skin I've posted to shift the display over to the left by about 4mm, please? - enough so I can run other Today screen plugins which bring up a scroll bar? Any scroll bars at the moment hide the last-day temperatures and prevent access to the toggle buttons.
I haven't had much luck simplifying the appointments list (to read similar to t-Agenda), nor in getting my SD card to show up correctly (iPAQ 2210).
It would be really useful if someone who understands all these gobbledygook commands could split out the various elements (regions?)into separate skins for idiots like me!

It's worth noting that TodayPlus is not designed to cope well with scrollbars.  Based on a poll of all users, it was determined that the quality of ClearType rendering was more important, as the vast majority avoid scrollbars on the Today screen.

Perhaps we can work with you to replace your other plugins?

Check your config.sys file and find the line:

storage,cfcard1,\storage card\
Replace the \storage card\ with the appropriate path for your SD card (possibly \sd card\ on 2210s - check in File Explorer).  That should make it show up correctly.

You'd be surprised how straightforward they are, really.  I'll see if I can get some time to clear up a few bits for you, though.

Thanks for coming to the rescue, Arbitrajeu. Todayplus is incredibly flexible and potentially useful that it's frustrating that I can't nudge it in the direction I want.
On the SD card problem, I have replaced "...storagepath1,/storage card/" with "...cfcard1,/SD card/" everywhere it appears in slider & analog-weather, as well as modifying the config.txt, and it displays OK but won't refresh. I haven't included the modified files as they are identical to the default ones supplied with v.0.9.8 except for the replacement words. This forum says the problem is that I need to change a "-1" value somewhere to something positive, but I can't find the correct "-1" to do this.
The other things I've been trying to do are simply a process of elimination of the default files, config, slider and weather.com, as follows:
1. elimination, of text (+ the space it takes up) under the battery/memory bars (time since last reset, etc)...where is this buried, please??
2. "clean up" and tweak the appointment screen so I've just got one option which is a list of the appointments and the dates, one per line, so I can see the next dozen or so on the Today screen (much like you get with t-Agenda). I guess somewhere is a command to stop writing the appointments when it gets to the bottom of the screen, to avoid scrolling.
Lastly, what's a poom??
