Title: Newbie - loading calender skin
Post by: umlaw on November 12, 2003, 01:01:50 PM
I am trying to load the calender skin.  It came in a zip folder with a config.txt which I copied into the today plus over my other config.txt.  There is the skin file (calender.txt) which I put in the skin folder.  Also there are two folders "Colors-3D" and "Washington Post".  I have tried to put these in various folders but the skin won't work.  Will someone help out a clueless kid get this set up. Where do I put the folders to make this thing show up.  Right now my today screen is blank- nothing shows up at all.

you need to place the config.txt in the main TodayPlus folder. Calendar.txt goes in the skin folder. Colors-3D will go into the images folder(replace the 1 that is there with this 1). Then put Washington post in the weather icons folder. This shold get it working. Look around this site for changing the weather to local area.
Title: I did it - still doesn't work

I did everything you said.  I then cleared the buffer and went to start>settings>today>items>ok.  My today screen still has nothing.  Should I take the images out of the folders or just copy the Colors-3D and the Washington Post folders into the folders.

It is wierd because the today screen doesn't show anything.

You have TodayPlus checked on your today settings right? Just copy those folders over. Make sure that the first line of your config looks like this: skin,Skins\calendar.txt. It should work. Was the default working proper(I assume so since you said you cleared the buffer folder).

I deleted everything out and tried again.  It doesn't seem to work.

What ppc do you have?

I recopied all the files

config.txt into the today plus folder
calendar.txt into the skins folder
colors 3D folder into the images folder
Washington post folder into the Weather Icons folder

Then I went to start>settings>today>items>ok and now whenever I minimize an application and go to the today screen the top half of the screen stil shows the last screen I was on.  It doesn't work but the screen doesn't refresh all of the way.

The original one worked fine, I don't know why this one is messed up.  I am attaching the folder from my ipaq (Today Plus with everything in it like it is on the ppc)

umlaw, I checked out the skin you posted and it works for me. You are missing the forcasttext.txt and uptime.txt files. Even without these files the skin worked. I'm not sure what the problem would be. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Thanks for your help.  I uninstalled it and then reinstalled the newest version I could find .9 and it works perfectly.  Thanks for your help and time.

You now I thought about asking you that but then I figured you would have it. I'm glad it is working for you.

Hi. I am new but very excited about today plus but I have had a bit of bad luck just now.

you need to place the config.txt in the main TodayPlus folder. Calendar.txt goes in the skin folder. Colors-3D will go into the images folder(replace the 1 that is there with this 1). Then put Washington post in the weather icons folder. This shold get it working. Look around this site for changing the weather to local area.

I followed those instructions and then the next time I did a soft rest I got an error message regarding unable to find -- I believe it was  the  CPLIcon.dll file.  It completly locked up and ended up doing a hard rest  becuase I just could not get the screen to respond or get it to go beyond that error message.   It is no big deal since I back up regularly just take a little time to restore.

I also tried to follow the direction in the calendar skin 10.0 thread before this  but I just got a blank screen -- the direction in that thread said to put the CPLIcon.fll in the windows folder -- did that mean actually THE Windows folder -- that did not sould right but I did try that before also.  Except for the hopeless locking up in that  I got closer with the instructions on this thread in that some or most of the calendar skin seemed to display at all.

I would like to be able to use the calendar skin but this is getting a bit frustrating, could anyone offer a bit of advice?

By the way I use an Axim x5
