Step-by-Step for Installing Today Plus 0.11.0

1) Back up your PDA

This will enable you to restore your system if you have a problem installing Today Plus.

In general it is a good idea to backup your PDA at regular intervals, particularly before installing a new product. I personally save several backups which represent different system restore points.

H2210 users can use iPaq Backup or ActiveSync.

2) Remove previous versions of Today Plus

a) Remove Today Plus from Today page
Start->Settings->Today->Items Tab
Uncheck Today Plus->OK Button

b) Unstall Today Plus
Start->Settings->System->Remove Programs
Select SRSSoft TodayPlus->Remove Button->Ok Button

c) Remove Today Plus directory
Start->Programs->File Explorer
MyDevice->Program Files->TodayPlus
Delete entire Today Plus directory

3) Install Microsoft .NET Framework SP2 and perform a soft reset.

This is needed by the 'config.exe' configuration program and will work with all languages. Although the download is large (~14MB) the PDA footprint is relatively small (~2-3MB).

Note: Although the H2210 has the .NET Framework built in to the ROM, you might want to install the updated files to pick up bug fixes.

The following thread discusses options for those who don't want to install the .NET Compact Framework:

4) Install Today Plus 0.11.0

a) Unzip the 'TodayPlus.arm.zip' to get the 'TodayPlus.arm.CAB' file which must be copied to to your PDA.

b) Click on the 'TodayPlus.arm.CAB' file and install into main memory.

5) Run Today Plus config program

a) Start->Programs->File Explorer
MyDevice->Program Files->TodayPlus->config.exe

b) Update base path
Press Base path button and update path based on the correct location for TodayPlus (e.g. Program Files->TodayPlus).

If you do not do this, you will not be able to find the default 'slider.txt' referenced below and Today Plus will not display properly!

c) Select default slider.txt skin
Select Skin (DLL) -> slider.txt

d) You can execute config.exe later to update other settings once the basic application is up and running.

6) Verify that TodayPlus has been added to your Today page
Start->Settings->Today->Items Tab
Check Today Plus->OK Button

OK now that you have installed TodayPlus and you can see it on your PDA, its time to configure it --
Go back to FILE EXPLORER -->PROGRAM FILES -- >TODAYPLUS -->CONFIG.EXE
You will see tabs at the bottom of the page:
OWNER INFO: (you can do this part   :o ) but you will also see LOCATION, WITH LAT: AND LONG:  These represent the latitude and longitude of your home location, or where you want it to get your sunrise/sunset times from.  You can go to sites like http://www.zipinfo.com/ for this info in the USA.  Make sure you put in the negative sign if there is one.
WEATHER/RSS Tab: Hit ADD NEW under the WEATHER box, and enter either a name or a zip code (while connected to the internet with the PDA) Chose your city.  Add some others.  For RSS, these are feeds gotten from websites (for a full education on RSS http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/12/18/dive-into-xml.html).  You can search any portal and find them... here is Yahoo's http://news.yahoo.com/rss.  Hit ADD NEW and type in the URL and a name for it.
Well I think you get the point... same for the TIME tab.

HAVE FUN!! :D
