Would anyone be able to try using the following RSS feed in their config file and tell me what happens?

rss,1,60,http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss091.xml,BBC UK News,9

This was working fine for me yesterday, but now it downloads the headlines correctly (rss1.txt) but all the html files (rss1.txt.x.html) are 98 bytes in size (98 spaces only).

Did you clear your buffer? I tried it for you and it works fine for me. Headers and the files are filled with html

Thanks for trying it Doemaarwat.  I did clear my buffer.  It may be something to do with my proxy here at work - I'm in a different office today than I was last time, when it worked.  Will try it when I get home, over dialup.

Interestingly, the pass-through is working fine and I can link through to and view the online version of the page.  TodayPlus is taking about 30secs to produce each 0 byte html file now (having cleared my buffer again).  It seems there's some kind of timeout.  Any thoughts what could be the problem?

Thanks again.

I don't have a clue. I can remember though that srs said something about problems with proxyservers. When opening the online version it has nothnig to do anymore with downloading the files done with TP. I think the proxy might be the issue in this case.

I guess I was wondering why it was that the proxy was allowing the weather and rss1.txt file through, and Pocket IE to browse the page, but not allowing TP to access the html.  Sadly, this is a bit of a mystery to me.

srs - I'm now in another office and still have the same problem.  TP will happily download the .html pages when connected through my dial-up connection (ie not accessing the internet via my work proxy server).  I'm sure this isn't a TP problem, but am keen to understand what's going on "under-the-hood" so I can ask the right questions of my technical guys, and/or amend the config of my iPAQ or ActiveSync.

Thanks in advance.

this is strange

I don't see any reason why it would download the rss feeds but not the html.  does this only happen to the bbc feed or everything else too ?

if its only the bbc feed then there may some problem with converting the url (TodayPlus converts the url given in the link field to the mobile version of the bbc site).

I amended my config to download the Pocket PC Thoughts html too and it seemed to have the same problem, although in this case it sat there for 5 minutes before giving up and leaving a 0 byte html file (only one of the three I asked for).

Also, Doemaarwat tried the BBC feed with no troubles.  I'm pretty sure it's a problem with my connectivity, but it just feels a little strange that it's just the html being affected.

Do you use the same protocol/port for both?  (am guessing http/8080 but would like to narrow it down.)
