Lately we talked a bit about version 0.12 here:

Besides: although much people all over the world must posses version 0.12, almost all skinners use version 0.11 because version 0.11 is more stabile, people say.
And what I've seen with my own eyes: in the 0.12 reference I didn't see new features compared with version 0.11. So, in my humble opinion, it isn't wise to use version 0.12 now.

I know that TodayPlus is a strange problem... and I have a hard time understanding the dynamics of it. But selling the skins has always rubbed me the wrong way... and basically bundling the two together really feels wrong. That was my point...

Now it's more clear for me what you think. I agree with you and your points:

• TodayPlus was and is a free program. You can get it still for free on our Dutch, German, French and ... forums. Even with a .dll to let TodayPlus work fine. Also for free. And I don't like it if people are asking money for plugins of this free program...

• Yet we feel bound to with-hold it from anyone who asks for it at this forum. For me: if Jhollin1138 can agree with it, we change this policy, and do like most boards do, and not feeling bounded with things from the past. But I don't know if there are playing things in the background, so I'm not sure if my thoughts on this point are wise. So let Jhollin1138 speak...

You gave a right correction: TodayPlus itself isn't to find there. But I've seen links there, to URL's where it's to download...

I bought Everything Today... before I knew what Today Plus was... along with that came not knowing about the whole history of the TP program.  I was using Dashboard prior to this.  

Here are my thoughts on this:

There have always been and always will be skinners who make both freebies and a few 'babies' that they put alot of work into they sell as 'exclusive' skins.  Just take a look at Juni's site and you'll find two exclusive skins with support for a variety of plugins that you can 'buy', however the rest on his site are free.  So I don't think anything against the selling of the Everything Today skin for TP.  

Having said that... I am getting the feeling from what I have read on here, that SRS does not want anyone to use TodayPlus anymore at all... am I correct in this assumption?  Because why else would he build in an expiration in the first place?  So in that sense... I guess we are all 'stealing' his program by using a .dll file to bypass his expiration.  

I am however still using it.... but I do feel really bad by using it.  In the one case, it's a great program that had great potential, and it's a shame to let it die, and on the other hand, I feel like I am stealing.  I wish I could have found something written BY SRS to the effect that it was 'ok' to continue using the most recent version.  BUt I didn't see anything like that on here.  I'd pay for TP if it was commercial.  

Oh, and Everything Today does not come bundled with TP12... it sais on there if you are having trouble finding a copy of TodayPlus 12, that you can email him and he will set u up with a copy.  I searched high and low for ANY copy of Today Plus, and everyone on hre sais 'Google' but you can't find it.... trust me, I paged through about 50 google pages looking for a copy of any version.  SO I emailed corbcut and got version 12.  Runs beautifully on my ipaq 4155, I just can't give it up now that I am using it.  

If I had known about the situation with this 'NOT SO FREE' program before I bought everything today, I might have decided against it.   I just hope SRS can see the good side of things and the many people who love his work, and somehow get past the bad things that happened.  And when he comes back I'll do my part with the beta testing  and I hope he doesn't hate me too much for using TP12 in the mean time.

Maybe Corbcut should post here and (try to) justify his words and actions !!  After all, at one time, he did insist to me that he believes he owns "copyrights" to much of the code that we all use !!

One of drawback of using the commercial TP skin is you have to count on the support of original author or somone is willing to help you off-line.  And you also need to ask skinner to customerize your need for the skin.  Sometimes, it will take times...Just my 10 cents (sorry live expense near Wahington DC is higher).

Corbcut (aka LordTwisted) is profiting on the selling and distributing TodayPlus, maybe not directly but indirectly (see this Handango Search).  I will leave that to SRS to address with Corbcut directly, assuming he still visits this forum and/or is aware of it.

The distribution policy was put in place by Eitel when he reopened the forum after TodayPlus expired in this Announcement.  Specifically this statement:

If you don't have a working copy of TodayPlus, then too bad. You won't find it here, so please don't ask. All threads and posts talking about hacking this software will be deleted on sight, without an explanation.

For the hack/crack policy, see this post by Ben over at PDA Corps.  Specifically this statement:

The legality of any discussions regarding TodayPlus isn't a matter of question. SRS has made it clear that as long as no binaries, hacks, cracks, etc are distributed, and discussion of such doesn't take place, then the discussions can continue...

Unless SRS ever contacts me stating that the policies can be removed, they will not be.
