My Yahoo News feeds are having difficulty downloading, format seems to be off.  Instead of the headline in the preview section I see the rss formating.

Me too! I believe it's a new version of RSS (on Yahoo) that TP doesn't quite understand. We need a "small EXE" to delete the excess HTML from our Yahoo RSS Feeds.

Here's a "little EXE" (RSSClnUp.exe) that reads your RSSx.TXT files and cleans up some of the V2.0 stuff that TP has problems with. It's a PPC2003 Build. Double-click and wait for the window that tells your updates are complete. Make sure you backup, fixes YAHOO RSS Feeds, not sure about others.

Have fun...

Is there any way to make this run automatically during updates?

You need to add the exe as a shortcut and add something like the following:

button,4,50,110,13,-1,0,%apps-7-2

The skin reference file will help

Groovin

ok, so if i understand you create a shortcut to the exe and then edit the skin to tell it to execute the exe at the same time as the update? if so, wouldn't i wnt to tell rssclnup to wait until the update is complete?

grayme

Yes on the first part, no idea on the second.

That's how radar.exe works, it doesn't seem to need to wait for anything :)

Groovin

OK I will just give it a go. Thanks for the instruction-I will refer to the skin reference as I progress. :)

If my memory serves me right....
It is possible to execute the exe after the update.  Just like the weather information.  TP will download the rss data automatically based on your settings.  Any modification of the files needs to be performed afterward.  The trick we applied for the weather is to wait TP finish the updating then do the modification (I hope this part was right,   , please feel free to jump in if not).
Same trick should be able to apply to rss.  But I need to think about it.

OK UK_Skinner ...Thanks for the reply because I am a complete newb at this but I have a very nice setup and have gotten everything down so far. The only two things I haven't done yet is get this rss clnup.exe to run auto and get the imageview to work with hammerskin. Once I have these two things down I will be a happy camper.

Sounds like you are thinking the way I was thinking so that is why I asked. It would seem to me that the RSS feeds have to fill first and then obviously the clnup.exe could then fire and it would do it's job on the filled feeds. Dono if this is true, but that is how I think about it.  :?:  :?

Yes, you were right on the spot.
But how to do it is another story.
