Revised Slider skin with a Launcher Region

After further playing around, this only happened yesterday so it must be specific to the number of items being displayed and the size it takes up.  Also it seemed to happen when I turned all the other items off, especially with the quick launcher off.

Maybe I can set my date back and troubleshoot from there, any idea where I should start to look?

I notice at the beginning of this thread that the weather icons (BBC?) are transparent. How did you do this. I use the BBC set (with the Twisted skin) which are in bmp format but they have a grey background.

 What ever part you want transparent the color needs to be this:

255,0,255

pretty much and graphic editor will do i use paint shop pro for all my graphics. It dosent matter if the pic is .bmp or .png to be transparent.

As Lordtwisted stated, the background for the BBC icons are indeed not pink.  You could make them pink, or you could use a different "color-transparent" statement.

All you really need to do is use a different "color-transparent" statement that represents the background color. In the case of the BBC icons the color is 153_153_204 and not 255_0_255. Keep in mind that all the other control icons have the pink background. So I normally change the color, load the icon and then change the color back. It looks something like this:

Is there an image of your new skin?  Also, and this is embarrassing, after unzipping your skin I got a txt file.  What do I do with it or where do I copy it to on my ppc?

The skin that JTod, ihenry and I discussed is still currently being developed.  There is an image of my skin I have released to date on this post.  The image on this post is also pretty close to what I have released to date, with the exception for the weather icons and the left arrow in the launcher region.

Put the skin file, in the skin folder under TodayPlus. (Program Files\TodayPlus\Skins).  Edit your config file to display a skin.  I would remark the use of an older skin, and simply add new ones.  You config file should look something like this:

Thanks for the quick reply.  Somehow, when I edited the config.txt file as you indicated, I now have no today screen, just the background skin.  Any idea what I might have done?

Have you tried reloading TodayPlus?

To do this, go to Start -> Settings -> Today
Tap the Items tab, and then tap "ok".

Or, you could try to a soft reset.

After reloading and a soft reset I still get the blank screen.  Sorry to be a bother.

Have you tried to go back to using the "Slider" skin?

What version of TodayPlus are you running?

Sure, the original slider skin still works, so no problem there.  Just today I downloaded the latest version as loaded in the Changelog forum, v. 0.10.2.

Then it is hard to say what is wrong.  Are you sure the skin "txt" file is in your "Skins" folder under TodayPlus?  Have you been able to use any other skin posted by anybody else?

I did check to make sure it was in the correct directory, and I have tried to install other skins but it seems they are having issues too.  I'll mess with it this weekend and would be grateful if you could help if my messing doesnt solve the problem.
