Please help: weather refuses to work!!

have re- installed today plus about 3 times, but not activesync, do you think I should re install activesync?

Can you get to the internet with your PPC? You need to be able to pull up web pages with PIE. If you can are you behind a proxy? TodayPlus has a difficult time working behind proxies.

The only thing I can think of to check is that the "BasePath" value is set.

If you are looking at your regisrt, it should look something like this:

Since it sounds like the Weather and RSS are not syncing, it might be a problem with ActiveSync's pass thru.  Can you "surf" with while using ActiveSync?  Lastly, are you behind a Proxy server?  If so, TodayPlus sometimes has problems syncing.

I had the same problem today, when I would add a new city to my weather.

Got the web.exeception error. I had installed ActiveSync V3.7 last week.

You have to set an option in ActiveSync, to connect though AS to the internet.
After I did this, my weather search worked well again.

That setting is located on desktop  PC ActiveSync options, rules at the bottom is a menu.

ok - heres the latest update:

re-install of today plus, and connecting via GPRS, i finally got a weather report!! woohoo!! - apparently it does not like my proxy.

however - doing a search on my home city now (Manchester UK) returns a city number (UKXX0092) and it takes it fine into the setup, but now i get the empty icons for my city..  change it back to a US city and off we go there they are!
Is there a today plus issue with getting reports for the UK (or any other NON us city)?

No, there is no known issue with that. And the code you've found is
ok too. (You can test, if the weather source is working by visiting the
following link - change the acid=xxxxxxxx to the code you have - in
this case it is for Manchester: http://www.msnbc.com/m/chnk/d/weather_d_src.asp?acid=UKXX0092

What you should get, is a string looking like this:

When you get it, the weather source is o.K. and your problem is another one.

Try to clear your buffer before syncing again (empty the folder buffer via
explorer or by clicking the "clear buffer" button in config.exe)

Hmmmm..

ok i've checked the city setting all ok.
cleared the buffer
re- synched
unit is connected to GPRS
still no data.

I have installed GPRS data monitor, it says no more data has gone over the GPRS, so it looks like today plus isn't even trying to get the data from the net, explorer conencts fine.

so, the city search now works - but still no data, this morning I was getting data through, since I have changed the city not getting any weather reports. the buffer directory is staying empty.

Some people have had problems like that, try another city in UK such as London. I know I get London with no problem. Also sometimes if the connection is slow it times out. I have had similar problems, when some of the rss files were large it never made it to download weather, and timed out.

Ho hum:

tried various different cities, and reloading, still no luck, the city search  now works fine, but not getting the weather data through. the buffer is staying empty, tries different methods of internet connetion still no luck.

oh well, looks like I'm gonna have to get the weather by looking through the window for now.
