You shouldn't have to use the app 6 you can change that in the skin. I have done it in many skins. here is an example from the skin.

imagebutton,150,112,neon.png,tr,-1,0,%apps-6-8-highlight


Change it to this and it will look at group 2

So you look in the skin change the shortcut to look for another location in the config.

Basicly it is saying look in group 6 item number 8 in the group. The 8 can of course be changed depending on the way it is loaded in config.


In the config you can have it listed as

apps1
apps2
apps3
apps4
apps5
apps6

Or it could be set up as
quick
word apps
maint1
maint2
maint3
sys apps6

It all depends on how the skin looks at the name of the group.

The apps 6 folder contains the apps for shortcuts that you setup in the config file. I have mine from previous skins in the today plus folder, on my SD card. I then point the config to these apps. The only thing you need to do is look in the txt file for the number for each app so you no the order it loads.


Try to zip the file, if you mean loading to the board. If not contact Jim and he mite have to change the upload limits. If that is possible.

I don't think so... the apps-6 folder has a few links that lead to the backlight, reset, and suspend functions...

I am guessing they are somehow attached to the last button on the menu... the "pretty blue" one...  I am just not sure how to make them work. I guess I need to go through the skin again... and have a better look.

The first number is the number of app folder, the second is the order that shortcut is in the config in the folder.I hope I am not confusing you.

Also I saw all the apps are connected to image buttons. So it is probally for the System info. I couldn't translate the words on the image buttons.

I think you mean the word "Nix" that is standing in a blue square. The english translation could be "Nothing" or "Empty".

Edit: I have temporally removed the English version of Wichtel's HammerSkin translated by Ripper pending Wichtel's approval for its distribution.  I hope to have it back up soon.

I have noticed that there are alot of posts over at the original forum where Hammerskin came from... since I don't speak German... but I am nosey... I would like to know what is going on.

It seems to me that Wichtel is taking some heat with the similarities of Lightman's HandyPro and his Hammerskin...  Can someone chime in and tell us what is going on...???

It would be a shame to lose Lightman or Wichtel as skinners...

I didn't meddle in this discusion, that I (without my knowledge) started.
Next is the comment from Wichtel, translated from German into English:

I didn't steal the idea, I had the idea in May of this year and putted an update in the PPC-Welt to follow. When I saw the skin of LightMan I thought the same as Lightman "somebody has the same idea".

It's correct to say that I used the images from LightMan, because they were great and I couldn't make anything better. I didn't asked LightMan if it was good to uses the images, because more people in the forum where using the same kind of images, so I thought nobody would blame me.

I make my apologies for this to LightMan in public!

Furthermore I didn't programmed everything by myself, but I've never made a secret of it and there are several remarks about that in the german forum about asking questions about the skins. I looked in the coding of the skins and learned about it.

The code of the LightMan Skin wasn't available, only the images. So I'm (Wichtel) angry that I'm accused about stealing the complete package.

And last but not least, after the announcement of the Hammerskin in TodayPlus V2 by Motormuis, the download went crazy. Several questions are asked about the skin and the same people now point to me.
I think that's not right, so I removed the package as I believe it's not nice to LightMan's Images. I ask everybody to do the same with the foreign language from HammerSkin and wait until the new packages with the new images are available.


So, please, let us stop with all the namecalling, commenting and so on and go on with what we can do best, making skins and helping eachother.

After all the heat that aparently was generated after I aborted my HandyPlus Pro skin, I think its time to make a statement, since it appears that some people are taking things way too far :

1) Wichtel didn't exactly "steal" anything. He just did what so many other skinners did before him. Some asked before, some didn't. For that fact alone, no one should be accused of stealing, since sharing ideas has always been one of the strong points of the TP community/skinners. The material we're talking about here isn't copyrighted anyway.

2) Lots of skinners (myself included) used other skinner's ideas at some stage in order to improve their skins. Again, some asked, some didn't. Personally I've always asked because I also like that people ask me before seeing my ideas elsewhere, but that's me. Anyway, again, for that fact alone, no one should be accused of stealing.

3) Saying that Wichtel stole the complete package is simply stupid. As he rightly said, the skin wasn't available to download yet, so he couldn't have "stolen" any code.

4) As you can read on the post I wrote about aborting my skin , the fact that led me to stop developping that skin was the fact that I didn't want to keep working on a skin that would seem like a copy of other skins already released or nearing release, since my idea had already been used by others (and some graphics).
They could have asked before? Yes they could. Can they be called thieves because of that? I don't think so, because as I mentioned before, using good ideas from other skinners was/is common among TP skinners.

As I assumed on my post, it was my mistake to post the screenshots and then take so long to release the skin, eventually giving others enough time for this to happen. I also mention on my post that I don't blame others for using ideas that are good, although obviously I can't help feeling disappointed that it happened with a skin I was writing from scratch and even more since it happened before I released it. So, that led me to the decision that is known.

So, I'm hoping that this post here will put an end to this situation and those who blamed Wichtel or called him names without knowing all the facts or reading my original post should apologize to him.

Sorry I have been away for a few days so I could not chime in... but I feel the same way... everyone of us that have done any skinning owes something to someone else. I feel we are a community of people trying to share our ideas, abilities and work...

People should be applauded for giving up their time and work for the rest of us to enjoy... afterall... Wichtel didn't have to share the work he had done... he did it to contribute to the community...

As I have done from the outset I want to thank... Wichtel and Lightman for their work in the past... and what efforts they wish to provide in the future... and JHollins for his contributions...



AND thank-you to Motoruis for the translation... so we know what is going on...

I figured I should give everyone an update on the status of the download of the English translated version of the HammerSkin.

With Motormuis help in translating (who is hopefully having a great time on his vacation  ), I have been in contact with Wichtel.  He asked that all distribution of the translated skins be stopped pending his creation of new images and his release of v1.04.  He has stressed that unfortunately, this updated version has to be translated again into English.

I have been keeping on eye on PPC-Welt for its releases.  Until than, everyone be patent.
