UK_skinner,

I've met the same problem. Hope, there's a solution...

Timmy:

 I have a not so perfect solution.  A small exe (not again???) can detect internet connection, if yes, then it will launch radar.exe.  If not, it will try 3 times (5 seconds apart) then quit.

 If I put it in StartUp folder, it will slove our problem.

Questions:

1)  Where is your radar.exe?
2)  Is radar.exe the only one you wish to automatically start?  If not, I need know the file pathway.

This again will be quick-dirty exe for you testing.  Later I can come up some "user-friendly" version if anyone is intersting.

Timmy:

 It is possible to monitor the AS status and trigger the automatic downloading.  But it will require to let a program continuous running at background.  No clue how it will affect the memory, although it is quite a small exe.

UK_skinner,

I think you are very near to the solution of this problem!!! Before you do, I have a question for you. Can you:
•  òr make 10 from the 3 times launch,
•  òr make 15 (or 20) instead of the 5 seconds apart?
If you can manage thàt, the problem would be gone...

Now the answers to your questions:
I have two programs to launch automatically :
•  \My Documents\Radar\Radar.exe
•  Program Files\EarthViewDL.exe

Good luck!!!

I found an entry in my Notify Queue. Is there any solution to make the same with the Radar.exe ?

Yes, I can make program try 10 times and each times is 15 (or 20) seconds apart.  But I think I  miss something here.  You will only need it when you start-up right?  Usually it will take just several seconds for AS to establish internet connection.  Why you do you need program try so many times?  Once the program detect internet and will call radar.exe or other program you wish to run, then will exit.  Do you want it stay ta background all the time?

Wichtel:

  Thanks.  And I think you give me some idea.

Timmy:

 At this moment, I was able to run radar.exe at wake-up without problem.  Wichtel might point out some way here.  The radar.exe will execuate automatically after my device wake-up.  I need to tweak a lilltle bit becuase it will be quit annoy if you don't have internet connection when the device wake-up.

UK_skinner,

No, I don't want the program to the background all the time. Only when I connect my PPC to the computer to sync, no longuer.
NOTE: It can take, sometimes, a longer time to sync. And when your new-to-make program don't have enough time, it stops without doing his job. Only for that reason it did my suggestions.

Timmy:

Check your email,  I made an exe for you.  Just tap it and it will add two programs you posted above into the "Notification" list.

It is not perfect yet, but please try it.  After you tap it, it will have a pop-up window to tell you.  You onlly need to run once.  At this moment, it will start the downloading when you connect your device and "click" the "sync" in AS on PC.  I don't know why, it only works in that way.  Nothing happened to me if I connect device without clicking "Sync".

I will continue to see I can make it better.

Timmy:

     Ok, here are what I have done so far.  Maybe a little bite complicated but it was not so bad.

     A small exe (yes, again) can detect internet connection (by testing www.google.com) within n times x m seconds (I tested 4 x 5).  If yes, it calls downloading program (ie. radar.exe).

I can get it work under these 3 conditions, not complete perfect yet.

1)  If your device is off and connect to PC, the device wake-up and internet detected, the downloading will run.

2)  If you soft-reset, ad still connect to internet, the downloading will run.

3)  If your device connect to PC and click Sync at PC, the downloading will run.

1) and 3) require to add the small exe to the Notification list (this can be done by SKtools or I have a small exe can do that) and 2) reuire to make a shortcut of small exe (not downloading exe) into StartUp folder.

GoodNight and Happy New Year!!!

@All,
One of my radar-pics has a type, not described so far in this fourum. The URL is:   http://www.weer.nl/indexa.html
Then click: Europa --> Neerslag

The four results, depending on the time of downloading:
01:00 uur    http://www.weer.nl/images/weer/kaarten/europa/eur_obs_rrnr00001.jpg
07:00 uur    http://www.weer.nl/images/weer/kaarten/europa/eur_obs_rrnr00002.jpg
13:00 uur    http://www.weer.nl/images/weer/kaarten/europa/eur_obs_rrnr00003.jpg
19:00 uur    http://www.weer.nl/images/weer/kaarten/europa/eur_obs_rrnr00004.jpg

As for as I noticed in this thread, there is no solution in using the next example from Wichtel's Radar.txt:

DURL=http://www.wetteronline.de/daten/radar/dwdd/2004/10/162100.gif
STOR=\Programme\TodayPlus\Images\Radar\radar1.png
FORM=45,YYYY,50,MM,53,DD,55,HH,57,NN,30,RT,10,RD,0,UO

Does anybody know a way of downloading the latest picture of the day?!?

Does this mean the image is updated at 01:00, 07:00, 13:00 and 19:00 daily?  If so, I can write you a small exe to deal with this.  I looked the website and I could not even download the html page. Very intersting.
