The pains of a hard reset!

I forget what I was doing yesterday, but my 4705 crashed, and hard. I couldn't get it to reset or power on. So I removed the battery, put it back in and got the welcome to ppc world screen. YUCK!

The good news was that most of my programs was in the file store and on my cards, the bad news - T+ wasn't. That was my biggest concern of rebuilding the PPC, putting back T+.

Reinstall, VGA hack the EXE/DLL, install the HAMMERSKIN! (US Version) Replace all graphics with the VGA ones everyone worked on (I noticed that my SD and CF card images are not included in the VGA images - were they that bad?? Luckily I still had those on the HD.) Then  the time consuming part - the config...

I love the config app srs wrote but I SO miss the config file in the original version is so much as there was a file to back up and just replace in case of tempermental PPCs!

However in those whole process, I gained approx 15 meg on the 4700. If i can just figure out how to get AS to synch files on a card and not the ROM - all would be good.

Just thought I would let you know that my biggest worry was putting T+ back on.

Do you keep your TP files on a SD or CF, or is everything in Storage RAM ??

I thought about changing the skin to point to the images on the SD/CF card, but was worried about lag and soft reset loads...

 No pain no gain.  You got 15MB extra space.

 I believe you can export Registry key using resco exploer or PHM.  However, I never done it before.  I will let you know if I come out something.

Since I put all of my images and files on my SD card, I haven't notices any difference in load speed, lag, function or anything...
Works for me the same as when it was loaded in RAM !!
I just keep a few backups of my config, .dll files etc..  and I don't worry about loosing anything !!
I also backup my SD & CF cards often....

I will move the images to the cards - however Zapme, you said you moved your config file??? What config file? Is this a secret that not even uk knows!?? (thex snickers...)

Correct..  The program, .dll, config, and forcasttext all remain in RAM, then I made a folder on my SD card called (what else) TodayPlus...
All else went in there...   I also store a backup copy of my TP files from RAM, on my SD incase of Hard Reset !!!

One question, do you have to install T+ or just copy the files over and run it that way???

Ok, yes I just used Resco Explorer to export the registry key and saved it in iPAQ filestore.  It is all there.  When you need it, just tap it then all the information will be loaded!!!

I just moved my files over to the SD card, and changed my skins to point to the card for the images, weather etc..   The program still is in RAM, so it should start as normal....

As far as registry, I also make backups of my registry, and last time I hard reset, I was able to reload the registry also !!!

is the reg key today Plus? (want to make sure) Also, I never put Resco back on since I have to pay to get the VGA version. been using GSFinder+ which is AWESOME and takes very little space.

thex:  Me too, everything is in the file store except the exe, dll and configure.  Just need to switch base path to the TodayPlus folder (in iPAQ file folder) in the configure and you are good to go (don't have to change anything in skin).
