Weather Information Extract From Yahoo

What Weather Icons are you using? I use the yahoo folder under TP Weather Icons and they seem to match. I will pay closer attention.

 I will start pay attention to it.  In PHP we have a list to convert "forecast text" into codes.  The same thing can be doen for the current forecast.  Too convert text to image icon number.  If there is no pattern then perhaps we can have a list.  In that way, PHP can pull out the reight icon number from it and wrtite into city.txt.

 One way to start it is using the forecasttext you gave to emmond and look what icon number should be for each forecast text.

That's a good idea! I don't know PHP, but last months I see everytime again that you, eemond and Broesel are doing good things with PHP or c++ or what name those tools/languages might have.

Note: there are much more textphrases in yahoo than in msn.com. Every new text that comes in I gather in my Dutch Sky.txt, so I hope to get a klist as complete as possible.

This problem ("In my city1.txt the text says snow, the icon says rain, city3.txt says
"sunny" with icon 11 what means rain too.") has been resolved.

It was caused by using two weather feeds (MSNBC & Yahoo). I was pulling the Icon from Yahoo and the Context from MSNBC. I decided to pull both from Yahoo (http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/gmxx0039.html).

I just had a major discovery this afternoon.  I believe we can have all weather data from weather.com.  This time not only the data in the city.txt, additional new data can also be "extracted".  

In fact, two PHP scripts for German and Frech users have been sent out for testing.  

Once this PHP available, I will post and for users to test.  At this time, I believe this one can be used if you can find your local weather information from weather.com even for other country.

This problem has been resolved.

Sorry, but I'm still having the problem that the first forecasticon (not current)
shows a nighticon for the current day   when synching after
6 pm in Germany.

Broesel, I checked the MSNBC one, the updated time of your city was at "13:00" (your time), but if you look the first day of 5-day forecast, it started tomorrow.  This makes sense since the day forecast is no longer valid.  The question is when do we wish to see the forecast starts tomorrow?

01:00 ? It is given in american time, so it is 6 hours later in Germany.
(19:00 or 7:00 pm). Synching after 6:00 pm (German time) with msnb.com gives us the
forecast for the next day (no more the current day). I didn't test, when
yahoo or weather.com changes the forecast for the current day, but should
be like at msnbc.com.

Yes I checked it, and I saw the problem, in the evening yahoo shows a
nighticon for the current condition and the icon for today, there you
get the number from and it shows a nighticon for the today-forecast too

At msnbc.com in the evening the current day is no more shown, but the
next day is showing with day- and nighticon.

So I now understand that. It would be nice, like uk_skinner asked before,
if we synch at the evening, that we can get the next day to show as the
first forecastday, but I don't know, if that is possible. If not, I can live with
that.
